4pm pst or 7pm est is when the asian markets open I believe, I'm always forgetting myself especially with daily light savings so I use Qlock.

Yeah, as shadeslay said, 7PM EDT. However, the Asian session is the least active of the three major sessions (European, American, Asian) on the FOREX market, so don't expect the market to move a lot during this session.

Approximate times of the three major sessions (all in EDT / GMT)

European/UK: 2 AM - 12 PM / 6:00 - 16:00
American: 8 AM - 4 PM / 12:00 - 20:00
Asian/Aus.: 7 PM - 2 AM / 23:00 - 6:00

Notice that while the Asian session ends when the European session begins, the European session overlaps a little bit with the American session. Also, there's a gap between the American and Asian session.

Ignored
Aye completely agree, I do often catch 40-60 pip moves in the Asian session playing Aud and Jpy pairs. It's a great place to start I think because the volatility of the market isn't changing the trends near as quickly. However, I try to exit before the start of the European session. The trends often change in transition from market to market. The European and US markets might be the exception here, but they too often change after a few hours of the US open. This is purely a short term perspective 1-2h chart time frame, which often equates to a 4-8 hour time frame in Asian markets because of the liquidity of the Asian markets.
