SERIOUS WARNING

  1. Most Forex traders lose all their money.
  2. Using the robot posted here in trading Forex does not guarantee success.
  3. Trading this robot could lead to serious financial loss.
  4. Trading this robot without understanding its underlying trading strategies guarantees traders will lose their money.
  5. This is not a set-and-forget ea; there is no such thing and anyone who tries to claim there is, is either stupid or lying. This ea requires frequent manual intervention.
  6. At best, a trading robot is only 90% as good as the manual strategy it trades. At best. At worst, it can be much less effective. If the strategy is rubbish, so is the robot.
  7. To trade this robot, you have to understand:

    1. Bob's trend trading system at http://www.forexfactory.com/showthread.php?t=308304

THIS EA IS NOT READY FOR LIVE TRADING YET

Welcome to BigBob - Nanningbob's V10 trading robot. The Astonishing Bob has excelled himself this time, so vast and epic rounds of applause Bob. Bob has stated that all his experience so far has led to this system; all my coding development and experience is coming to fruition here as well. I have separated the EA from Bob's thread to avoid cluttering it with techie discussion and so that it is always easily available.

BB is a monster with a vast number of inputs. Read the user guide to see what it gets up to and how your choices can influence the way it trades.

Bob's V10 thread has arrived at just the right time for me. Let's see if we can make the BigBob EA reach its 90%-of-manual-trading-success promise. If it can, we will all make money and Bob's chosen charity should see some extra as well. My contirbutions will go to Childline here in the UK, but that is a different story.

Have fun guys.

Caterpillar: read my post here at http://www.forexfactory.com/showthre...37#post4886737 to see what this is all about.

Daily Volatility Indicator displays:

  1. the average daily movement of a pair, calculated by adding together the distance between the highs and lows of the most recent 20 days trading, then dividing by 20.
  2. the pairs long swap.
  3. the pairs short swap.
  4. the spread.

Hanover
The Hanover module allows us to trade in the direction indicated by hanover's Recent Strength indi. I consider this to be the most significant development in my time at FF. Details in the Hanover thread athttp://www.forexfactory.com/showthread.php?t=319709 There is nothing about this in the BigBob User Guide. Please note, I have only coded Hanover for Trend and Caterpillar trading; I have not yet coded H for Range trading.

Posting restrictions
I have restricted the ability to post in this thread to: traders with at least 1 voucher; and traders on my 'buddy' list. I have done this because I do not want the thread cluttered with 'newbie' questions about the basics. New/inexperienced traders, this is not intended as a direct insult. What I want here is discussion with traders who fully understand what it is they are doing; when you newbs have been around a while, you will come to understand what a difference experience makes to the posts a member writes and shudder at the recollection of some of the questions you asked. I do. http://cdn.forexfactory.com/images/s..._the_floor.gif Go to your profile page; there is a link to the FF page that describes the voucher process.

Do not attempt to get around this by sending me pm's asking for help with your basic problems. Doing so will earn you an automatic ban from all of my threads.

I have set up a partner to my restricted threads at http://www.forexfactory.com/showthre...66#post3948666
There, you can post the questions that you cannot post here, about anything you need to know. Someone with the knowledge and experience you need will answer.

Traders/coders with experience who have not yet been vouched for, can get around this restriction be being added to my 'buddy' list; all you have to do is pm me to ask me to do this.

Hehe. Already found my first logic bloop - shown up when I did an every tick backtest.

Fix in post 1. If your version closes sells as soon as it opens them, you need the fix.

Hi all,

at first I want to say that both threads (Nanningbob's trading idea and this one to develop the ea) are great. And I would like helping to improve the ea. Maybe

The balance of the first backtests were pretty good.
The ea seems to work best in trendy phases (sure), but in ranging times (like this month EURUSD) it's no so good. So maybe we could filter these ranging times completely (maybe quiet difficult) or as a first improvement, I would add a stoploss, which is trailed with the 2nd slower moving average to avoid huge loses. I think Nanningbob mentions it somewhere in the docs, too.

I will take a closer look soon.

Big thanks!

PS: sry for my school English
DO or DO NOT ... There is no try.

That thought is in the back of my mind somewhere. Thinking about that one. My idea is you go to a lower TF for you TP philosophy or in heavy news go up a TF. Cant decide but mulling over it.

Thanks Steve. We knew sooner or later you would get involved. I urge you to look at the CTR Both EA in the ranging thread. Bob has had very good results with it. I went live with it Sunday evening and thus far it has made a profit of 800 pips with very little DD. Settings are default and TF is 1H, it is auto trading all the way with no intervention from me.

Kind Regards

I am about to implement this. Are people using '10.0 4H CTR BOTH' or '10.0 4H CTR BOTH B'? There is a difference in stringency between them.

Hi all, I'm trying to do some backtests with it, but I can't find some acceptable settings to build a reasonable profit, what set are you using, MasterF?

...and talking about CTR 1H BOTH EA, just opened today a short GBPUSD which is at -60 pips at the moment, is this normal, Astral77? Default set used, H1 TF...
I don't say

Should be '10.0 4H CTR BOTH B':

I upgraded all the 4H EAs to include that both price and the MA must be outside the lines to enter the trade. I had three enter inside now all three are losers. So now you can turn then on anytime and take profits without the EA automatically reentering the trade.

HI
I am using CTR 1H BOTH EA which is in the EA folder of "10.0 #2.zip" file. everything is default, except the lot size which I increased to 0.02.

As for the -60 pips! What can I say! I have this trade as well and at present it is down by 88 pips. In the world of forex everything is normal. It may be -600 pips in couple of days or +200 pips. Who knows? Your guess is as good as mine. The only thing we can do is to be prepared to take relevant action in either case. Sorry can not be more help, maybe someone more experienced can give a better reply.

Kind Regards

Good morning,

I tested something:

1. A OrderSend function could only be called once per bar, because in some situations, when the Candle is ranging over and under the line, there could be many trades. Although these trades are only small loses, the balance curve looks better now.

2. I looked at the Daily EA, which is posted in Nanningbob's thread (first post) and changed the enter conditions. If the price (Bid/Ask) is under/over both lines the ea should immediately send a buy/sell order. I don't know, if these are the actual rules and if...

Hey there,

I have done backtests with both versions, my perception is that with the original version posted by Steve the Equity curve looks a whole lot better than this one just posted by MasterF.

I am doing 5 YR backtest with Alpari's data on the daily TF.

In anybodyelse experiencing the same thing?

Thank you
