Hello chaps.
Revisiting EUR/GBP, which continues to fascinate me, even though I don't trade it. Currently facing triple resistance and in some kind of steep rising pennant or wedge (not sure what it's called to be honest), but the euro is pretty strong these days, so let's see what Mr. Market has in store for it over the coming days and weeks.

The start of the week

The week has started with me being on the other side of the market in most of my trade ideas.

Was expecting crude to fall (against 98.60) but it hasnt. The idea for new lows remains as long as the 98.60 pivot is not taken out. It might just be retesting the breakdown point

Was expecting some more upside in the $. Nothing yet.

The watching and waiting continues...

The EUR/GBP move has big implications for GBPUSD; if EURUSD is to challenge 1.38/39/40 then we could see GBPUSD headed up to 1.64/5/67 before it swings meaningfully lower.
Lots of ifs.
I have no clue what I'm talking about.

I agree BW that is the mother of all rejection. And it is still going lower. The euro is getting hit by the tapering news.

Guys

This is going to be my last post for 2013. Things will kick in again on the 6th of January2014.

How did you do in 2013? what did you do (in trading) in 2013 that you would not do in 2014?

I hope that in some way I have helped your trading while I was learning from all the posters on this thread. I would really be happy if I have been able to convey that trend trading is the best way to trade.

I am grateful to all who posted on this thread. I have picked ideas from different perspectives on this thread. Wish us all loads of pips (forex) and points (other instruments) in 2014

For all who celebrate Christmas (I do) I wish you all a merry Christmas.

And for all of you I wish you a happy new year. May you and yours be safe, well and prosper.

Some charts are posted as well to see us into 2014:

Copper looks like a good r/r sell here, stops above 3.45/3.46. Looks to be forming a right shoulder, which could see sideways action for a week or three before resuming to the downside.
There's also a copper ETF - JJC.

DX is caught in a triangle; the break is coming in the next few days and it could be explosive. Maybe NFPs will be the trigger. Despite my fundamental bullish dollar thesis it looks heavy; that and it feels like the whole world is short EURUSD right now has me feeling there could be a move to the downside (in DXY) first, which could turn out after a few days to be a fake out...or not.
But, I've lost so much money trying to be a smart arse by trading break outs as if they are fake outs that I must trade the break in the direction that it comes and deal with the fake out if and when it arrives.

Without the low liquidity spikes in EUR/USD and GBP/USD during Xmas I suspect the charts would look somewhat less bearish.

Well done Trexy123 on putting out the first post on the thread and a great trade as well. As I said on my crude chart I missed this downmove but if EW analysis has any truth in it and if it is applied correctly this move down is just the beginning. Hope you banked some

I hear you BW. When the whole world swings one way the market tends not to go that way. However if we get a retest of the breakout point and then take out the high of the initial thrust I think the upmove will be valid and tradable for a profit. That is how I want to play this. Thanks for putting up this idea we'll se how this pays out
