Good Morning Steve,
Here's my trifecta this morning at the start of the NY Open...A little heavier than normal DD but all three doing well....
Disregard that dip in the chart on Beast ATR Hedge...That was the nit-wit behind the wheel driving the car into a ditch while adjusting the radio a couple of times.....You have already solved this problem....
AEB is well underway and I have restarted Orig Beast with Astrall's set file as he was kind enough to post it for me....Hopefully I can have some luck with it...
I am now off with family.....

Have a great weekend

Cheers whip. These suggest that it is impossible to break TB unless we over-trade.

Fabulous.

Hi DC,
Hope you had a great thanksgiving......
That statement is from Beast Experimental....A very different animal from AEB.....It is not OOTB.....I have been experimenting with the barcount lookback.....I have it set on daily at 14 days.
If that puppy keeps running the way it has been for another 2 weeks it will be on a live account right next to FTLR gathering penny's......

Have a great day

DC....IMHO set files for each pair would not be a real test for the bot.....I drag the same file onto each pair...

I am putting the latest version of TB here, in the hope that only those who understand what it is going on here will play with it. Anybody reading this without such an understanding is best sticking with what is in post 1 for now.

This version brings in the upper trading levels from AEB. I intend to replace TB from post 1 with this one, once we are sure the code is watertight.

TB now has three trading levels:

  1. Primary: half-way between the magenta outer lines and the gold lines
  2. Secondary: the old Primary trades at the gold lines
  3. Tertiary: the old Secondary trades at the green lines

Each level has its associated on-off switches and lot sizes:

  1. Primary (at the outer magenta lines):

    1. Primary_trades: true/false to enable/disable trading at this level
    2. Primary_trade_Lot_size
    3. PipsBufferFromPrimaryTradeLine: sends the Primary pending trade when the market comes within this number of pips of the outer lines

  2. Secondary (at the gold lines): macman's original Primary trades

    1. Secondary_trades: true/false to enable/disable trading at this level. Setting this to true, and Primary_trades to false, and SecondaryIsIndependent to true makes TB trades as in macman's original strategy
    2. Secondary_trade_Lot_size
    3. SecondaryIsIndependent: see two points higher

  3. Tertiary (at the green lines): macman's original Secondary trades

    1. Tertiary_trades: true/false to enable/disable trading at this level.
    2. Tertiary_trade_Lot_size

Recovery
Users need to fully understand this important fact: TB makes Recovery decisions based on the Primary_trade_Lot_size. If you accept the default lot sizes, TB will regard both Primary and Secondary trades as Primaries for Recovery purposes, and act accordingly. Bear this in mind when deciding where to place your Start_Recovery_at_trades value. The defaults represent those that I trade - Recovery at 3 open Primary trades because I treat secondaries as primaries.

I am not quite ready to replace my live-trading Beast with this one but am hoping to be able to do so soon. In the meantime, backtesters can have a lot of fun for the rest of the weekend, playing with the different options.

Hi Steve

Looking forward to seeing this in action

This seems to confirm that the trades are only placed once the outer line is established and we get a retrace back towards it, as I had thought.
Can't help but think the trades would be better placed on the close of the candle that establishes the outer line in the first place, so as to be certain of catching trades from this optimum high / low level ( which it is certain to be at some point )

As you say AEB is trading so well that you may not consider it necessary, or want to change anything.
But it may just work even better ... maybe ?

just back tested it. DD is not bad, and it trades more frequently than the AEB version.

My need some finetuning/tweaking. Maybe macman will be able to give his permission on taking the latest ideas from nanningbob's latest ideas?

try backtesting with other pairs. Not bad - but if you back test from 2008, drawdown is heavy for nearly all pairs.

whip, a question for you.

I have updated the user guide to reflect latest developments in TB and I am going to put everything in post 1 soon.

I have added Atr hedging to TB, as a user option. My question is: should I make Atr hedging the default?

I agree with the way you have it now Steve....IMHO it should be the default as long as it can be shut off and manual trading can take place if the user wishes.....The hedge should be going for breakeven as it is now unless shut off....
TB is running and trading well......

Steve,
Here is an example.....Beast Experimental/EURUSD in deep DD....top trade is the hedge, bottom is hedge the hedge....I'm waiting to see how it breaks, both trades are live at the moment....

P.S. Have to go back to work so I killed the HTH at 245.00 profit....Do it again at the start of Toyko.

Cheers whip. What I actually meant was this: hedging is included; the user has a choice of manually selecting the hedge level via HedgeAtLossPips etc or automatically by electing for Atr hedging. Which one should I make the default?

For what it's worth, I've got The Beast vs AEB running from last Thursday 25 November.

20 Pairs on FXDD Malta, $50k demo running 0.3/0.1 lots.

The Beast is currently $52,031 (DD of -$3,850 approx)

AEB is currently $51,174 (+$320 approx in play)
Thank you Crucial Point, Bleek, Trizzle, Darkstar

I have amalgamated The Beast and Another Alternative Beast into The Beast; this version is in post 1 now, along with an updated user guide explaining what I have done.

chngster, there is nothing new in the trading logic, so you can either leave your versions as they are to continue your comparison, or you can use TB as originally intended by turning Primary_trades to false and SecondaryIsIndependent to true.

I have included Atr hedging with the latest version.
