IMC (Investment Management Certificate)

I'm about to commence studies for the IMC, and was wondering whether anybody who lurks within the virtual walls of these forums had done the same?
Also, I'd love to talk to anyone who has recently been through the CFA Stage 1 programme.

How did you find it? How long did you study for prior to sitting? Do you have a maths background(uni/college) etc? Whereabouts are you based? Are you currently in the industry?

CFA recommends 250 hours for level one, but it all depends on your knowledge of the material. Yes I do have a maths and economics background from Uni, but CFA is not as much math based as you might think. I studied about 150 hours, but I have covered all the work in previous studies.

I have been based in South Africa for 3 years now, doing consulting work for European Banks and Insurance companies on their Asset and Liability Management side and Regulatory Capital Requirements.

I'm going to complete the IMC, and then take the CFA 1 afterwards, in order to comply with the RDR requirements.
I'm hoping that they don't move the goalposts-again-whilst I'm doing them!
