Hi Vinesh, Desmodeus,

I see that as
AUD = 'Morning' session= your midnight - 8am next day
USD = 'Evening' session= 2pm - 10pm, same day

Assuming Pacific Std Time = GMT - 8, then your TRS_gmt_shift= - 480
and your local times would be
AUD trading hours are PST 14 - 22
USD trading hours are PST 4 - 12

fyi
As per the attached image in my previous message,
AUS trading hours are GMT 22 - 30 (6am next day)
US trading hours are GMT 12 - 20

So, those hours appear to be wrong. Did you set TRS_gmt_shift= - 480?

@Desmodeus: TRS_gmt_shift can have positive or negative values, as needed.

btw, the reason you enter the GMT offset in minutes was due to a well-meaning but fruitless attempt Z(on my part) to cater for fractional offsets. Some places end up with 9.5hr offsets during daylight savings etc...
Alas, neither my nor Steve;s code caters for fractional hours, so it isn't going to happen. Perhaps we are spending too much time on this subject.

Note for all:
if all else fails, simply set the time manually through Simone's parameter dialog, i.e. the dialog that pops up just after you drop Simone onto a chart.
You only need to do this once per currency.

It would appear that the lowly and much-misunderstood space character is becoming a bit of a pain.
Unlike its more illustrious @ cousin or even the # (is it a hash or a pound?), the space has come back to bite us; it's gone from space to a waste of space.

Perhaps we should rename 'simone stuff.mqh' to
- SimoneStuffed.mhq
- SimoneSnuffed.mhq
- SimoneToughTT.mhq

or, maybe just
- SimoneStuff.mhq

(funny guy, I know, but I've got to get a laugh one way or another)

Steve, this one slipped past my radar. Spaces in filenames can be an issue for people (Mind, they shouldn't be but...). Feel free to rename simone stuff.mqh to any of the above :-) and then simply change the include line in the main code file.

Cheers,
Nick

Use -240.
That value is added to GMT, in order to derive the local time.

Hey GrandeHombre,

I have a question about the TRS_gmt_shift GMT offset in minutes: my VPS is in NY city, which is -4 hrs from GMT... should I set TRS_gmt_shift to -240 min? or + 1200 min? + 1200 would imply that NY is in the next day relative to GMT, and this is not correct. But I don't know whether your code will correctly handle negative offsets.

Hehe. I am steering clear of this until the dust settles. I haven't the faintest idea what is going on.

You might be gaining some insight into why I avoid custom libraries. Conceptually, they are fantastic ideas. Realistically, if a coder cannot code them into the ea, then said coder is better off forgetting them.

I could indeed simply rename simone stuff and change the relevant line in the code. All that would happen is that those who cannot be bothered to read my posts here would miss the change, download the latest Simone and demand to know what all the resulting error messages mean.

I am not in a good mood tonight, so I am saying this. From my point of view, it ain't bust so I ain't fixing it.

The rest of you can sort out for yourselves how to download the occasional post with the odd 20% thingy in it. I damn well had to.

I doubt it. It seems the stop loss is too tight, but I find it impossible to discern exactly where The Real Simone actually places here stop losses. Asking questions in her thread is a waste of time; she doesn't answer - well, not me anyhow.

So, what I propose is this: move the stop beyond the hi-lo of the breech. Anyone with better ideas should turn into a birdy.

Hi All,

Here is an ex4 to visualize Intraday Fibs in Action.

Create an empty EA to run the indi on in startegy tester in visual mode.

Use Open prices since we just want to see how the intraday Fibs work and to speed things up. Try 15 minutes and then 5 minutes.

Indi Settings.
Simone set to true requires the fibs to close above or below the levels to be effective. This would show Intraday fibs per video. Simone requires close below a level, close above a retrace level for a new low to be established.
Simone set to false checks for highs and low above and below the levels to be effective.
This indi is based on your broker time so set the London Time to actual GMT on your chart when London Opens . That's a mouthfull.

The default is 8 am with a high and low of 3 hours.

Pat

PS : The Blue and Red areas are Targets 134 and 155 and -34 and -55
Light Blue and Orange are the 20% 0 and 10 Levels and
the yellow and green are the 38, 50 anf 62 levels.

I've got my goggles and face mask on and I too am waiting for the dust to settle.

And I used to think that writing real-time firmware in C and assembler was hard!
Never thought I'd see the day of spending this much time on ... an include file!

Heh heh... now I know why people kept telling me forex trading is hard. Nothing to do with pips.

I am sure, in the end, all will be well.
At the moment, I am making some reasonable pips and very few poops (negative pips), so I am happy.

Till the dust settles, best of luck and lots of pips to everyone.

You can PM me for specific simone stuff issues; lets keep the forum clean of support issues.

Lets let Steve tweak and fine-tune Simone. She's got a living to make! :-)

Cheers,
Nick

Hi Steve

for a few days now my thoughts and observations exactly !

the StopLoss set to The High or Low of the Breech, yet sometimes the Breech Hi/Lw can be to many pips, maybe with a Maximum SL setting ?

and I think a Trailing StopLoss, xx pips or xx candles Hi/Lw

another observation is T1 Take Profit, sometimes it seems many pips away,
eg:

EURUSD at the moment I have a Sell with a T1 / TP 99 pips away, so a Trailing would be great

Hi Steve,

I currently use an EA I wrote to manage orders, once I opened them (it does not open orders!).

Its purpose is to make my life less stressful, once an order has reached 10-15 pips. When that happens, I usually go and read a book and let the EA manage it.

Its rules are very simple

  1. set a before-profit SL as soon as it detects an order it hasn't processed
  2. if the order is in profit

  3. move the SL to OpenPrice - x1, if order is +y1 pips in profit
  4. move the SL to OpenPrice - x2, if order is +y2 pips in profit
  5. move the SL to OpenPrice - x3, if order is +y3 pips in profit
    <blank>
  6. if order is +z1 pips in profit, take k1 lots and monitor progress. for every m1 pips that it goes backwards, take another n1 lots.
  7. if order is +z2 pips in profit, take k2 lots and monitor progress. for every m2 pips that it goes backwards, take another n2 lots.
  8. if order is +z3 pips in profit, take k3 lots and monitor progress. for every m3 pips that it goes backwards, take another n3 lots.

So, here is what all of the above means in plain English.

  1. You start the EA in a chart window
  2. You open an order.
  3. The EA sets SL to -20pips
  4. The order goes in profit of x1 pips (say 10). SL is moved to y1 (-10) pips
  5. The order goes in profit of x2 pips (say 15). SL is moved to y2 (+1) pips. You are now safe!
  6. The order goes in profit of x3 pips (say 25). SL is moved to y2 (+7) pips.
  7. The order goes in profit of z1 pips (say 15). You take k1 (0.1) lots and watch out for reversals of m1 pips (say, 6). When that happens, you take n1 (0.1) lots.
  8. The order goes in profit of z2 pips (say 25). You take k2 (0.2) lots and watch out for reversals of m2 pips (say, 8). When that happens, you take n2 (0.1) lots.
  9. The order goes in profit of z3 pips (say 35). You take k3 (0.2) lots and watch out for reversals of m3 pips (say, 12). When that happens, you take n3 (0.1) lots.

In other words, take an optimistic view. Instead of having a fixed TP, let the order run for as much as possible.

Take a bit of money on the way (at points z1, z2 and z3) but let the order go for it.
If it starts reversing, collect money whenever it reverses by more than the specified number of pips.

All of the numbers above are meant to be user-defined.

I am not advocating that this should be put into Simone, simply offering one view of how orders could be managed. I have seen many more ways of doing it, so you could pick (n)one of the many out there.

I thought that, since you have sooo much spare time in your hands and this forum has been soooooo easy to manage (cough cough choke), you can whip this up in a day! (or whip me out of the forum! )

Cheers,
Nick

ps: Alas, the EA is not in any shape to be made public and will be staying in its closet.

Seems very similar to MPTM except that is adds the original SL when you enter a trade as opposed to the robot handling the original SL.

A stop just the other side of the 50% is too close, so I have moved it to the Breech hi-lo.

I have also imported the code from Candle Time to display the time left until the next bar forms. As with ct, the display only updates with each tick, and so is often a few seconds out.

Download from post 1.

This is brilliant. To save me re-inventing the wheel, could you post the code here? I can adapt it for Simone. It might make a useful addition to mptm as well.

I love the idea of letting those trades run that take off into the stratosphere.

Edit: I just noticed the postscript to your post. Not to worry about the code; I will sort it out.

Hi Steve,

The following mods fix a couple of issues with trading hours.

Inserted Code
   //Trading times
   int hour = TimeHour(TimeLocal() );
if (end_hourm < start_hourm)
{
end_hourm += 24;
}

if (end_houre < start_houre)
{
end_houre += 24;
}

bool ok2Trade = (hour >= start_hourm && hour <= end_hourm) || (hour >= start_houre && hour <= end_houre);

// adjust for past-end-of-day cases
// eg in AUS, USDJPY trades 09-17 and 22-06
// so, the above check failed, check if it is because of this condition
if (!ok2Trade && hour < 12)
{
hour += 24;
ok2Trade = (hour >= start_hourm && hour <= end_hourm) || (hour >= start_houre && hour <= end_houre);

// so, if the trading hours are 11pm - 6am and the time is between midnight to 11am, (say, 5am)
// the above code will result in comparing 5+24 to see if it is between 23 (11pm) and 30(6+24), which it is...
}

Cheers Nick. Got that.

Here it is for those that need it. I will put this into post 1 when I have added the max sl/tp stuff later on.

No live trades today because I am only trading eu, gu, ej live and have the trend filter turned on.

On demo, trend filter turned off and adjusted stop to hi-lo, and trading many more pairs, about 7.5% profit for the day, with all trades closed.
