Russian market makers, sometimes with spikes in live account that you don't see in demo (price manipulation?). Be aware of this.

I don't refer to Alpari Direct Pro or similar Currenex based accounts (I haven't tried them), but to Mini or Classic accounts.

I have been with them for many years now. I have only encountere minor problems and all of them have been fixed quickly. Their customer service is good.
Only maybe negative thing I can point out is during Asia session the spread might be a bit higher otherwhise no problems. Good reliable broker.

Regards

Kristjan

Could somebody with a live account at Alpari UK confirm whether or not the spreads are as tight as they often are on their demo platform? For instance, if I look at E/U right now (4.35 pm ET), it trades at a 0.5-0.7 pip spread. It hardly ever exceeds 1.0 pip nowadays. Is that only a demo feature, or are spreads on live accounts just as tight?

In answer to the thread I have traded with Alpari live for a couple of years and the one problem I have had has been corrected. Spreads vary but on the whole, from what I have read here from other traders, they are fair. The servers are very reliable. I never have had a failure. Occasionally there are requotes when the price is moving. I have had incidents of slippage, but not what I would consider to be excessive.

Currently EUR/USD is just less than 2 pips.
Gone to a better place

Ignored
If you trade out of Micro or Classic account then no then the spreads will be higher. Typical spread on eurusd is 1,6 pips on gbpjpy it is 6 pips. On a Pro account you might have spreads from 0 but then you also pay comission. On demo account you will see the Pro account spreads.

will they cancel the pro demo if you haven't been offered it by their customer services?

The regular demo with the pro price feed misses features.
The greatest force on earth is compound interest.

You mean that if you've got open positions that last for 48 hours, Alpari will then intervene and close them? That's weird...

Thanks for clearing that up, Onu. I would have been seriously surprised if Alpari would in fact employ such a time limit. Wouldn't make any sense, would it...

I trade with Alpari UK on their currenex pro account and I've never had any problems. The spreads vary as you should expect, but have always been very good for me. EURUSD is generally between 0.2 - 0.9, GBPUSD between 0.4 - 1.4. Even GBPJPY which is extremely high on most brokers is rarely above 3 (normally between 1.1 - 3.0.

Their customer service has been excellent, and I regularly get calls from the same person who is assigned to my account, just to check if everything is ok and to offer their assistance if I need it.

I trade very short term (anything from a few seconds to a few minutes) with what I would consider reasonably high lots placed as market orders, and I rarely get any delays or problems getting filled above what you should expect when trading. Of course there is slippage, but that is entirely normal and to be expected and works both ways with market orders.

Yes Alpari as a company originated in Russia, but that is not a negative unless you're a paranoid xenophobe. Alpari UK is incorporated and located in the UK, and are governed by UK laws including the FSA which forces them to keep client accounts segregated from company accounts so you are protected (to a degree) in the event that the company ever goes in to liquidation. Occasionally when I withdraw funds back to my bank account, they will run some security checks which delay my withdrawal by a day or two, but most times I get my money very quickly......and the security checks are no problem and just reassure me that they take care that my money comes to me only.

Over all I have personally been very happy with them and I'm quite happy leaving my account with them.
