Education help? Major and College Qs

First time poster, long time reader

I'm a junior in high school right now, the time when I'm supposed to be thinking college and what I want to do with my life. After taking AP Macroeconomics in school I started getting interested in the foreign market, which is what brings me here. After reading this thread, it seems most people here recommend either majoring in Finance or Economics in college, right? Now comes the tricky part for me, how do I know what universities offer good Finance/Economics programs? I'm really in the dark when it comes to what universities to apply to if I want to eventually become a trader. Like in an interview, are some colleges recognized over others as "good schools" in Finance/Econ? I'm most likely going to go with Finance BTW.

You should consider a combination of Math, Economics, Finance and Computer Science. As far as colleges/universities, most have these courses. Since the foreign currency market is not a major, you should consider pursuing a major unrelated just in case the same does not work out. Follow that second dream at the same time.

But, in the event that you actually have a head (&) on your shoulders, consider this.
Medicine... Racing Forward and opening new positions daily.
Defence... Nuff said
Manufacturing... Supplying the demands of Industry.
Industry... Supplying the demands of consumers.
Business Admin... Supplying all of the above.
You figure it out. And just in case you think of responding "but none of those are Monetary Based" then you absolutely need the education.

For the educational route, in my opinion your best bet would be a good college in NYC because it is after all the "financial capital of the world". If I could do it again I would probably apply for a finance program at Columbia or NYU and then Baruch as a safety.

Go to one of those and wall street is pretty much open to you.
