Hello everyone,

I know what trailling stop is, it know how i want to set it up, i know how to set it up, i have read the manual fo MT4, i had a look on google and tsd as well and no one seems to have this problem.

Where is the trailing stop option on MT4 ???

I am supposed to right click on the trade and the option should be there, but there is virtually nothing about TS !

Even the help file tell me that the option is here somewhere but it doesn't want to show up on my screen (whatever the TF used, whatever the pair used, whatever i have allready set up stop or not )

Is there somewhere an magic option that is not enabled by default ? Or TS does not exist on demo account on MT4 (i highly doubt about this)

here is some shots

Forgive me, but I don't understand the language that you posted in the diagrams, but what I can tell you, is that if you have a position open and you right-click on your S/L, you should see an option for Trailing Stop. I don't believe you can open an "Instant Execution" order with a T/S, but if you open a "Pending Execution" order for a future price, you should be able to edit the S/L to become trailing.

I trade on IBFX, so I'm not certain if other brokers are different.

Make any sense?

When the order is placed, you open the terminal to see the orders.
Right clock on the order will give you a list with options. One of them is the Trailing Stop (min 15pips).

Hope it helps

Thanks for the help but

1st screenshot : right click on the stop loss on the chart, no option
2nd screenshot : right click on the stop loss on the trade windows, no option
3nd screenshot : right click on the order in trade window, no option

On the first post, the first screenshot is a right click on the open position on the chart and................. no friggin' trailling stop option

Wherever i click the option will not show up and it's the same on my work PC (one instance of MT4 installed) or on my home PC (3 instance installed )

Unfortunately, not all MT4 brokers enable trailing stop.

FXDD has trailing stop when you right click the order.
MIG does not.

So, there you have it...well...you DON'T have trailing stops.

Sorry.

HOWEVER...you CAN create an expert advisor that will trail the stop programmatically...but there are 2 issues with that, of course:
1) It isn't server-side, which means you have to keep MT4 running
2) You actually have to program it (although, I think there may be some EAs already out there...maybe even one or 2 on this forum).

hello all ..

hey melpheos , as mrmikal said .. Not all broker enables Trailing Stop or Expert Advisor when u open ur live account .

I'm using MIG (stupid broker) .. and when i send them my papers to open the account , i sent also a Trailing Stop & Expert Advisor requests .. So they enabled them for me , coz without these request i can't use them .

Check it with ur broker , u may need to send them a similar form to enable these features .. It suppose to be in their web site .

Salam .

Haaaaa that explains this then

I am using the default test account on MT4 which is TFI public company. I was asuuming that most ppl using MT4 was using this test account for demoing.

I have a EA by hand and will use it then...

Thanks a lot everyone, i feel much better now. This was driving me crazy

Is there a way to set a FXDD server side trailing stop programmatically?
