For all those who needs a code snipplet to send email once a trade is placed, this should do the trick.

to use it, just call this function and pass in the ticket number right after an OrderSend is executed.

e.g.

p.s., a better implementation would actually be to check the validity of the ticket number BEFORE passing it into the SendTradeEmail function... but oh well...

Hello, Zen.

Nice code.

I have been googling all over trying to find a simple EA to send a detailed email alert when a trade opens OR closes. I ended up cobbling something together myself from disparate chunks of code out there to send an alert upon closing. I would love to have it augmented to alert on trade openings as well, but I am not that smart yet. If anyone can contribute to this code, that would be great!

The first one (Open-Trade-Alert) is actually a Custom Indicator, (which is preferable because you can just attach it to the chart you want to get alerts on, with your EA still on it). It alerts only on Open orders, as well as Pending orders. I couldn't figure out how to make it alert on ones that Close.

The second one (MailAlert-On Order Close-1) is an EA, which sends an email upon closed orders, BUT the count is mixed up, so it sends info about a random order from the history instead of the one that most recently closed.


This is what the email from the EA looks like:

Anyone got an indicator that will send an open AND close alert email please?

I can send a test email fine from mt4.

But I would like an email once an Expert Advisor places a trade. I would just like the subject of the email to be the pair traded, buy or sell and price traded.

Then another email would go when the EA closes with the pair traded and exit price.

I have looked here and elsewhere again but I still can't find the answer. Most focus on how to send email in mt4 generally. I've managed that.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I have this on computer at home. In hospital now. Will upload when I get home. It is an ea. Let me tell u this though. It will just say trade opened and trade closed. Why not just set up mt4stats.com page then u can view trades any time u want. Click on the my trades in my signature. These r trades I've taken and it constantly updates. U can check it from any where u have Internet Best of all it's free!!

I thinx Zen_Leow already provide a detailed example how to send an email.

The command to send an email from MQL4 is SendMail(MsgSubject,MsgBody);
where MsgSubject is the subject (you can replace it with "Hi" ,etc), and the MsgBody is the body (you can replace it with "Dear ME", etc).

failed? That's odd... That code if implemented correctly should have your EA send email whenever a trade is placed. can you post your EA codes here? I wanna see if its been applied properly.

I'm in the same predicament. I can setup MT4 to receive the Test message but using any of the EA's or Indicators posted in this thread, I don't receive the emails, whether i'm opening or closing a position or pending orders.

any suggestions?

I'm baffled by how many times it takes for me to repeat this...

if you have a problem with codes, post the codes here so we can help to debug.

You wont have much fun when trying to accomplish very specialized things with very generalized tools without trying to understand how they are supposed to work. This is a programming forum, so you'll have to dive down into programming if you want to programm the machine for your individual tasks. Have a look at the SendMail() function. Simply place calls to this function in your code after every OrderSend(), OrderModify() and OrderClose() call and you will receive a lot of emails.

Alternatively you could loop through all open orders on every tick and send a mail each time this list has changed.

These are very simple things, no complicated algorithms. Kids learn this kind of stuff in school nowadays. Programming is not more complicated than writing down a shopping list or a cooking receipe that has to be so foolproof that it can be executed by an authistic robot. You can either learn how to do this yourself or find someone who will do it for you.

metatrader will wake up the authistic robot on every incoming tick. the robot then looks at its instructions written down in the start() function, follow them literally and blindly, without thinking about them and then goes back to sleep.

This will happen on every incoming tick.

your start function will have to contain instructions like (pseudocode):

Inserted Code
- write down all currently open orders on a piece of paper.
- go to the pin board and take the old list from yesterday
- there is no old list? ->    
   - pin your list to the board and go back to sleep.
- there is an old list? ->
   - compare the two lists
   - they are identical? -> 
      - throw away the new list and go back to sleep.
   - they are different? ->
      - go through the list entry by entry 
      - write down all found differences on another piece of paper
      - send this paper per email to your boss
      - throw away the old list and pin the new one onto the board
      - go back to sleep
because the robot is very dumb you will have to write down separate detailed instructions for complicated tasks like "find the old list on the pin board", "take a piece of paper", "go through all list entries", etc.

This is programming. Nothing more and nothing less. Extremely simple, you just need the nerves to deal with such exceptionally dumb robots and write down all the simple instructions in a way it can understand.

Why oh Why - did you ever find anything that did the trick? I found an app that appears to do but it's $50. Not to sound cheap, seems like there'd be something free as simple as it would be for the highly intelligent programmers on this thread.

It seems they don't understand that the EA's we're wanting to keep tabs on aren't open source, so we can't just plop SendMail code in the middle of 'em. Maybe a SendMail app that's attached to a chart of the same pair the EA's trading that'll execute when a trade opens/closes...

So is that a Bugatti or what?

Hi! Got to this thread looking for a Metatrader 4 Push Notification Indicator / EA which I couldn't seem to find anywhere. So I settled looking for an EMAIL Indicator and found some sample scripts from this thread which I modified to suit my needs.

I've attached my custom indicator which should work with any pairs / EA. Enjoy!
