I am not sure the vsa method would work with this method. Who knows I maybe incorrect but the VSA method by itself is like finding a lepricon's gold at the end of a rainbow!

Just exploring and testing. A lot of options to consider and test that is for sure.

Jeff,

1) Which version of it are you referring to? Nyse's or Malcolmb's or other? There's a half dozen variations out there all jammed into that same single threat that nyse started.

2) I couldn't agree with you more. Once I started looking at VSA, everything else looked like garbage to me. My eyes were opened wide.

3) PLEASE help Gary and I build an EA. We need all the help we can get. You would be a great addition with all your expertise.

4) Gary; any way to start a private forum (not on FF) just for VSA EA development only that is by...

Yeah, VSA really is a completely different system unto itself than this one. This one is looking for a bar pattern that is an effect of VSA smart money plays. VSA itself identifies the cause of WHY it happened in the first place and where the price is more likely to go next. Fairly accurate too! I think the only thing that could be applicable woud be referencing the volume, H/L spread and Close of the trigger bar in comparison to the prior bars - using it as a filter to take the trade or not. That's what I see anyway but I'd love to hear what other VSA followers think about how it could be applied to this method. I'd hate to see Damon's thread turn into a VSA free-for-all, however. He'd never talk to me again!

Hey Junior!

Didn't change anything with the gmt....what does the log say about what type of trades were taken? Were they both the same filter?

Gary

looks like from others too, the ea isn't doing gmt right for fxdd.

Hi Gary, Damon, Jeff, Black Wolf, and Everyone Else that has taken interest in the Sling Shot!

If it is possible to write up the EA for the use of this indicator that was given to us by "ThatWasMe" then it should be a big help in having a very serious EA indeed.

I apologize in advance if I have perhaps intermingled too much into the benefits of the VSA thread.

Damon, I definitely do not wish to detract from all of your awesome work that you have done here, so I especially know that this is perhaps touch-n-go as this is YOUR THREAD.

This thread would have gone nowhere if it was not for You and Gary's serious commitment and resolve to see it through and that is the main reason why I was anxious to get Sling Shot noticed and not die out as I saw that this thread was dying and was afraid that the EA was put aside.

2000 pips in a week for manual trades is very very good for any one particular trading system, which is what you did Damon.

I personally feel that if the Sling Shot EA could use the Gann Zig Zag ind. as it monitors cumulative volume as one of the confirming triggers then it should increase its acuracy in the 90 percentile.

Gary, since you have reached the 80 percentile, (incredible work btw) do you think that adding this indie to the mix would be too much?

Hi Ron,

The automatic gmt offset was a contribution by sayembara. It works but the name of the broker in the ea has to be exact as you see it in the comment section of the screen. sayembara wasn't sure about all the correct spellings for the brokers......I know it was not correct for ForexMeta and showed '0' as well until I got the exact name/spelling correct and then it worked fine. You can just set it manually in the mean time (like in the earlier versions) and it works fine. I'll be happy to correct the spelling, add "inc" or whatever the correct name is in the next version if you let me know.

Gary, when we keep default for offset recognition (me at FXDD), the test read-out on the upper left chart does not reflect that (it says "GMT+0").

Is it however correct? Or should I manually add +2? (did FXDD stay +2 or go to +3 last Sunday)?!

*So* pleased you all are staying with this. And if you implement VSA also, whoa!

Today I had two trades trigger.

The first one gave me +27 pips and the 2nd trade gave me -24 pips. A net gain for the day.

Here is where I am at.

Tonight I will only test the new slope direction line. If that is working fine my plan is to open up a seperate demo account for only trading the slope direction on all M30 and H1 TF, and hopefully do some optimization with Gary. When I give it it's own account, I will also be testing settings 8 and 13 for the line.

Will see how it goes

I have followed with interest the community exchange and development of the Slingshot ea. I have minimal experience with Metatrader, and am generally all thumbs. I would like to try Gary's version 3.5 mq4. I have managed to compile the 3.5 mq4 file and drag it into a chart. I would appreciate advice how to set up the ea so it executes. Do I need to change the parameters in the Input section? I am also unsure what to do with the Slope Direction mq file. Advice and direction much appreciated.

Hi All -

Today's results were good.....please see charts below.

The ma filter produced 5 trades with 4 winners and a net +47 pips! However, the 4th trade shouldn't have been taken, so I'll have to figure that one out.

The slope(hma) filter produced 1 trade for a + 18 pips! Another

The ma continues its high winning rate, not enough data in on the slope(hma) filter yet to tell how it will do.

Welcome Steve!

Put the slope indie in the indicator folder and put it on your chart (ea doesn't need it on the chart but its nice to follow it allow as the ea trades).

I assume you have the smiley face in the upper right corner of your chart indicating you have all the proper settings for trading live. Use the ea defaults, except you need to set your GMT Offset value.....that will depend on your brokers sever time.....I'm sure you know about this from reading the thread. You can pick the filter you want to trade in the properties box of the ea by changing the 'false' to 'true'.......if your going to try the slope filter (its really a non repainting version of the hma), then you'll change the "TradeUsingHF" = true. That should do it!

Hi Junior -

Not sure what the problem is with the ea....Damon is using FXDD now I think and hasn't reported any problems. Whether FXDD is correct as an automatic option in the ea or not shouldn't have any bearing on the manual setting of the GMT offset......the code for the manual setting hasn't been changed and I tried it, worked fine. Just make sure the "GMT_Offset_Autoset = false".

If that fails, all I know to do is reset the ea tonight. If your trying the ma or slope(hma) filters, the ea doesn't need any lead time to figure out filter values, it starts to work almost immediately. Hope that helps

Hey Gary...I am only testing the Slope Direction Line but with settings of 8 and 13 both.

I had much different results than you did, but some trades were also taken when they should not have been and a few trades which were missed.

As the EA stands right now

setting 8 - 3 for 3 with +87 pips
setting 13 - 3 for 4 for +95 pips

I have my T/P set to 50 for gbpusd. So it is safe to say that with the extra trades, the EA would have performed better than if they werent there. It is funny too how one chart catches the trade and the other doesn't. Makes me think the EA is right, but maybe something is still goofy.

When I set the GMT offset to manual, the EA displayed the correct time in the on chart viewer.

Actually Gary, it looks like the 4th trade should have been taken. The cross had occurred, but before the bar closed. The EA would not have known about the cross until the bar closed in which the EA made the trade. It looks like the MA portion of the EA is working correctly, and I am almost willing to leave the HMA part alone until further testing is complete.

Gary: Thank you very much. I apparently was close. I was getting the smiley face. The only chart I have put up thus far with the Slingshot ea installed is a 30 minute USD/JPY. I have since installed the Slope indicator. This may be old ground, but what other filters do you like?

I appreciate the work you have put into this.
