I have got a lot of questions how exactly Open Interest is calculated, the answer lives on wikipedia, however I wanted to show my example:

day 1. trader A buy 2 future contracts from trader B who sell them short: OI = 2
day 2. trader C but 3 future contracts from trader D who sell them short: OI = 2+3 = 5
day 3. trader A close his position and sell his 2 contracts to new trader E: OI = 5 ! will not change!
day 4. trader B wants to close his short position and buy 2 contracts from trader C, who is willing to close a part of his position: OI = 3

I hope this is more clear now
If you have any questions or propositions let me know

Quite good conditions for GBPUSD - increased volume and open interest (useng evolution-dvoid), however previous day has been closed in negative section, but I believe uptrend will continue. Option levels indicator also show uptrend, as well Manufacturing PMI should make even more better conditions for GBPUSD.

Bot it on 1.6034, stop loss on 1.6029 right after last volume level. Take profit near the Friday high 1.6053.

Also, quite good bullish conditions for USDJPY - daily uptrend, increasing volume and open interest. Will seek for entering long position, but most probable from 82.14 .

I have lost the moment when JPYUSD was trying 82.14 first time, but now looking onto a 5 minute chart picture and do not like how it looks like. Will not enter long on it (today).

I registered on myfxbook site, and here is a link to my stats: https://www.myfxbook.com/portfolio/somebody-1/429902

Thank you for the indicators.

I would like to know the process behind the generation of the daily files needed for the evolution-options indicator.
I think it's really useful, but I'm cautios in including it in my trading tools, because it would made my trading dependent on the daily works made by VolumeTrader... and what if VolumeTrader suddenly stops it?

Hi,
Thanks for you input, I really like that you found indicators useful.

Unfortunately I can not open the formula how levels are calculated, I am not the author of it and I promised to keep it secret. Sorry, I can not open it to you.

But I am not planning to stop my website, it is live 4 years now! And be sure all data will be there for free forever

Hi, VolumeTrader

First of all, thank you for your tools and the free website. I've been playing around with your indicators and the data on your website for some time now. I hope to use all of that in real trading, but at the moment I'm still in the research phase. I think it's awesome that you've managed to code something that pulls data from the CME website and provide it for everyone to use. Kudos!

I also have a question/request. The 'levels' indicator you coded lets the user input custom levels copied from the website. As of right now, there are only three slots for custom levels, which means one is limited to three days worth of data. I was wondering whether it would be possible to recode it so one can add five days worth of data? Or perhaps code and indicator that is specifically meant for custom levels in the first place, without the weekly and monthly levels from the .csv file. I find the daily levels particularly interesting in terms of research and putting them on the chart by hand is a bit tedious. Also, I like the option of replacing all of the levels from a previous day with newer, up-to-date, levels, without having to delete them one by one. If you don't have the time or the interest just forget about this post, I'm not making any demands at all. Just talking out loud here, hoping to spark some interest.
If you don't risk, you don't ever have to lose.

HI bug,

Thanks for your input and making this thread live again, I really appreciate your interest.
I had built almost all features by user requests as that is most important thing to make anything useful and user friendly . You are not the same asking to leave previous daily levels, and what about custom levels - it also a bit complicated as you would need a date with a level where to draw it.

I think will need to code a separate indicator that will just display historical daily levels, and together with it - another archive released every day with such historical daily data. However this require a lot of changes and coding, I am really busy now and worry will not be able to code it during the next 2 months. Added feature request to my todo list.

Good luck my friend

OK, let me try to explain what I had in mind. I don't want anything with dates or any new downloadable .csv files. That is way too complicated. What I had in mind in far simpler. I think a few images will do the explaining for me. The first image depicts where I'd go about getting the information. The second one shows where I would paste it. Now, as you can see, the indicator has only two available slots for custom levels, I would like there to be 5. It doesn't have to have anything else - just slots for custom levels (which basically means that if one doesn't enter anything into the custom levels slots there will be nothing displayed on the chart). That way I can go to your website, copy the fresh data for Thursday for example and replace it with the data from last Thursday. Belowmost is an example of what the indicator would look like before pressing OK.

Copy-pasting these levels straight from the website without downloading the .csv files is faster, especially for people who have to rename their .csv files. In any case, what I have in mind is a really simple indicator that doesn't have anything to do with the rest of the indicators at all aside from the fact that it uses data from your website. All it has to do is paint horizontal lines on the chart and have an option to choose a color for each 'day' or each 'slot', as is available right now for the levels indicator. I hope I explained better this time.

Hi guys, I made a request for some assistance with the indicator that I was describing above. Hanover was very kind with his time and helped me out with this, see this thread for more.
