The famous commodities trader Larry Williams has had alot to say on using COT in strategies and is where I grew my perspective from on the matter.

I can't remember the books anymore, it has been too long. If you are motivated I am sure you can find it.

Yes I got the principles from Larry Williams as well. He's got a great course avaliable on his website. Google Larry Williams and read on.
just the way these guys are able to say a few words and move the markets... lol
if i can add my two cents about cot charts, you should loook at the commercial traders when they are extremely short or extremely long on a currency (levels around +100,000 or -100,000 contracts - these are considered extreme levels). this usually means that a big move is about to happen. for example: go back to last month's (October) usd/yen cot chart (+138,367). the commercials were extremely short on the usd/yen meaning they were long on the yen; and guess what happened? the yen got stronger! like everyone is saying, this is only one indicator to use in your arsenal; but it's nice to know where the big dogs are standing, hopefully behind you!

ok, at the moment we have a very bearish long black candle on the hourly chart of pound dollar, basically price is resting (thats what it seems to do mostly during the asian session) on the bottom low of the gap... my fib extension take us down to a first target of 9255 based on the gap move up.. lets see what happens.
yes when the comms and specs are both at the price extremes then we have a potential setup taking place but it takes a while to pan out, COT is really good for position type trades the market can move against what COT is telling u for a while before it starts to line up, but really bad fundamentals can and will buck and shift any trend, although price seems to always find a way to return to equilibrium or order out of chaos...

not at all, its a casual discussion of COT perceptions, thats all, COT is one of the most mis understood items in trading... I certainly dont know it all, still learning... and it shows that some of us have interpreted it just a little different but sounds like we have the same conclusions..

Theres lots of worries about this huge rally, lots of ppl got stuck short, maybe some COT influence may bring the dollar back a little a little...

BTW: I dont want everybody to think I'm a COT freak.... it was just a comment I made, nothing more...sometimes I dont want post anything because even the slightest mis type can get you flammed like crazy...
