It looked like a hanging man last week, now it's an evening star, with a close under last week low
What a powerful signal

After the moves Thursday and Friday that in no way reflected the economic news, it will be interesting to see what happens Monday!

My brain is getting twisted to align with this belief that the algo's controlling fx rates simply chase achievable contracts, that said hopefully those achievable contracts reflect economic realities!

That said there are indicators that attempt to reflect volume (either tick volume, available volume data or CME futures volume - trying to make the best of a weak situation)!

Which move exactly didn't reflect the economic news? You had strong upside surprise in NFP and that made the market reprice US yields which boosted that long awaited USD. Look at us 10y yield vs USDJPY relationship to see what i mean. Cheers. This was pure USD boost that we had.

Economical news on Thu and Fri made money return to US dollar.
Feds shown confidence and on the right path. Todays NFP doubled in numbers, this was Bidens aim, achieved. Economy is improoving, signs of recession are fading.
Positivity made stocks rise.

Bank rate increase in UK will only make situation worse. Unions on strike, goverment not making any changes. After watching Bailey's interview not sure situation can improve.

NFP was one of many indicators that the FED uses to guide them. The reported December data was more than 3x greater than the data reported in any other month in 2022 and 5x greater than the preliminary data on Wednesday this week! The US$ has weakened simply because it isn't significantly stronger than the other currencies. The US economy is suffering less than most of the European economies but more than most global economies because of this war that the US/Ukraine continues to fight with Russia. I find it deploring that Pres. Biden brags about bringing jobs from Europe to the US as a success of his presidency!
The USD boost was and is fictional at best.

Jolita, these were two of the many data points that the FED looks at. The impact was far too great for changes in component indicators, indicators which are subject to revision.
