Amazing. Triple witching day and approx. 100 pip range.

Bank of Scotland's Daily Market Strategy said this morning:

"Reduced data/event risk lies ahead today and means price action is likely to be fairly static as dealers square up ahead of the Fed FOMC meeting and $112bn in Treasury supply ($170bn including bills!) next week."

They've been right on the money so far today. GBP was a better play.

yeah, they're right so far. Charts showing ranging action.

Fool me once SHAME on YOU ...Fool me twice SHAME on ME!

I did not make any profit on the 4727 Short I had when it went down to 4715 and shot back up. But I did enter again SHort at 4623 and took profit at 4700 when price did not break the 4696 S1.....

I just took another SHORT at 4723.....it may break SHort to test BTL line at S2 (4652) as I am seeing DIV on CHF and EU.....

Actually I am only looking at 50 pips. I also don't intend to leave the position open over the weekend even if it didn't hit the target. I will still close at whatever price it hits an hour before market close.

this is a scalper market. I rarely and I mean rarely scalp, but i made 84 pips on the eur/jpy so far. Think I'm gonna call it quits today. Something seem to be bottling up. 1.47 seems to be the floor today. We could have an explosion next week in any direction.

My pivot is @ 1.4728 using the FXI Pivot indicator. What causes the discrepancies?

I'm using forex.com (GAIN Capital) for my metatrader charts.

Hi there, I'm a newbie in this market, but what I've seen on EUR/USD so far is (pls correct me if I'm wrong), there are only someday where u can see more than 100 pips movement at one shot (especially at non-events day).

You shorted at 4727 and price moved to s2, that's about 80pips+. What i noticed is price will move around 70 pips on normal day from top to bottom (other day is maybe less). Another thing that I see also not too many days where the price hit s3/r3.

After 80+ pips price hit s2, BIG chance it will retrace ... might even go back to previous price, today is a good example.

I've been caught on this type of trade myself, however not as worse as in ur case. Just want to share a little bit.

Lique,

I am definately not the best one to ask here as there alot of things affecting this market and its ATR of pips.

I did NOT make 80 pips...I wish I did....I took the first trade from 4727 and watched it go down to 4715 (which seems to be a constant number it goes to-Driver55 might be right about the close for the DAY)...and then back up to take me out at B/E.....I entered Short again on the failure to take out the Daily Pivot and took profit when it hit 4700 as it did not go thru the S1 at 4696...

My last trade of the day is at 4723 and I watching to see if I can get 4700 again or 4653 (s2)......

If you want to learn...watch Atlast, Gatorinla, Acumen, Driver55, Patience, Hasanna and there are some others.....watch what they talk about and how they respond to the Market. They have good Fundamental Knowledge of Current Events and Market Conditions along with good Technical Trading.

I can not imagine a serious retracement without first having made a violent upward spike.
Ignored
when you say violent spike, do you see it going much higher than 1.4800 or 1.4850? I thought perhaps 1.4800 max but good to get your thoughts.

I think it was last month or the one b4 I paid attention to Triple (or was it Quadruple) Witching Day for the first time. I noticed all the hype about it & was expecting some fireworks.

Anti-climactic.
