No, I love my country, America. The world loves America, too. Cheaper dollars means cheaper vacations to our beloved Disney World, Grand Canyon, NYC, etc, etc. We are an import heavy country that will not like the higher prices we pay for our goods. Neither will other countries when we stop buying foreign and start buying more domestic. The world is comfortable with our deficit because they know that America is good for it. Why is America's deficit increasing more recently? Because we are funding a ridiculous war that none of us support. There are no economic benefits from war other than for the military sector. Maybe the outlook is not so good right now, but America has existed for a lot longer than you and I, and been in much worse situations.

America is a resilient country... Anyone who says we are going to fail is pretty funny really. So we picked a bad president twice. SORRY WORLD

Yes, it seems as the US is in recession but where is the real value.

The real value is in their homes, what happened with the subprime is that the whole world have paid for those.

Now, the banks are repossessing those home defaluts, and then what??

They will have to sell it at a lower price just to get rid of it.

Many believe that the weak economy will deterioate the americans and their spending, but not for long. Once again the rest of the world are paying for the american dream.

Market is pricing 50% of 100 bps rate-cut. Actually, Fed is most probably cutting rates by only 50 bps. So USD bears will pare back a full 50 bps in favour of dollar. That event is usd bearish for cutting-rates, but usd will gain on false speculation that fed will cut rates by 100 bps. Just watch.

Yeah, so did Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, Macedonians, Mongols, Arabs, Spanish, Napoleonians and English thought once upon a time... So do Americans think nowadays and so will Chinese think in the future, and whoever comes after them.

That is correct. Not a single empire has lasted forever, especially when they bite off more than they can chew. USA has done just that and continues to do so.

Patriotic Americans are the ones who are exploited the most. They go and die for a war that serves to make a few people very rich (not themselves, of course.) They are passionate supporters of presidents that do not have their best interests at heart. They, for the most part, are blind followers of whoever they are told to vote for by the corporations.

No offense, man, but get a clue. You have no idea what it's like to be American. This is beyond personal to me. I have many friends who serve the country, not because they are gun ho, trigger happy Americans, but because they NEED to serve to afford to live. The army pays for your family, tuition, and benefits for life permitted you survive the Bush administration. Personally, I am a patriotic American who is against war. WOW, we exist? Yeah, check your facts:

"Forty-six percent say U.S. cannot win in Iraq; same percent says U.S. can win
• Most think Bush administration was deliberately misleading before invasion
• So-called "surge" remains unpopular, but opposition has lessened a bit
• Twenty-one percent support an immediate Iraq pullout"

-CNN http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/03/...oll/index.html

I'm not saying America is the perfect nation, but I am saying that America has got the right idea for hundreds of years, and that idea is democracy. Like it or not, we are the product of our forefathers' decisions about living and being.

Ok, stepping off the soap box. Seriously, if you are going to say something personal about my country, at least try to throw in the word currency, dolar, or forex, because otherwise, it's just personal.

Relax, man...I am an American too. A pissed-off-at-my-country American, but an American nonetheless. I honestly do feel for your friends, but don't tell me that joining the army is their only choice in life. This country is still the land of opportunity.

I realize that no country is perfect, but I don't like what I am seeing these days here in the US. People are letting their rights get taken away from them without even blinking an eye. The hot topic in Congress is steroids in baseball (VERY IMPORTANT ISSUE). Our own religious fanatics have taken over, and our dollar's free-fall is making it very expensive to travel outside the country.

With due respect and honor to all I respond to this issue. I was not born in America but I live in America now and Im an American. This is a beautiful land with a beautiful people. We are not without our problems. All countries have problems. America problems get more attention because America get more attention. I do not agree with American goverment handling of issues like Iraq war and the dollar.

A post said America a democracy. This is not what I was taught. I was taught America is republic. Maybe America need to go back being republic and not democracy and we see big changes for the good happen?

Looking as worse times are coming in America and we canot turn our back on our country now. I guess we keep buying euro/usd to survive for now!

Thank you sir. I love this country America. It is not my homeland but it is land of beauty and opportunity. To all our foreign brothers and sisters please do not hate all Americans. Do not let the actions of the powerful and rich cause blindness to the many wonderful American things. No cuontry is perfect all have problem. Lets us all be understanding of this factors.

I fear greatly for America. As I learn more fundamental I understand why the dollar suffers. Times are serious. What can be done?

Seems like it will hit 1.59 ish in the coming week. And another week before it reaches 1.60. But will it be able to sustain such a frantic pace?
Maybe I'm wrong, but when global recession sets in, maybe everything will start coming down including eurusd.

Khm... you guys are a REPUBLIC... not a democracy. Check what your fore fathers wrote in your DOI and constitution and see that you people are now way off. That is thanks to your GOV of course and people who actually run your country.

You might be right.

It will possibly touch 1,59-1,6 when "orphans" make their move right after the FED cut.

After that I see A reversal since the euro area can't withstand the US slowdown without beeing affected.

Who remember that many people were saying... oh.. if it reaches 1.50.. it is going to be a battle...I don't see the battle yet... a retracement to 1.50 as support has yet to be started somewhere. or maybe it is really the end of the dollar.
I see that Euro wants to substitute the pound in the long term... I see euro at 2.0 dollars and the pound at 1.0 euro. Then UK will join the euro zone. It makes sense. :
