The best books to learn from

Hi, just wondering what people’s suggestions are for books to learn from.

The ones on some of these threads are years old and I just wondered what the new versions are. For example, Technical analysis. The complete resource for financial market technicians. Is 10 years old and unavailable now.

my top 3 in no particular order:

* The Art and Science of Technical Analysis by Adam Grimes
* Understanding Price Action by Bob Volman
* Price Action Trader by Lance Beggs

as you can tell from the title, i'm more of a "naked" chart reader. the most i'll have on my chart is a moving average plus maybe an oscillator. i don't like 20+ indicators on my charts.

technical analysis doesn't change that much over the decades. a trendline break for a setup 80 years ago is still a valid setup today. a pullback trade 80 years ago is still a valid setup today. same with head and shoulders, double top/bottom etc.

that's the beauty about technical analysis. if you do it right, 100+ years from now ppl will look at your chart and say "yup, that's a valid setup."

Naked Forex is a game-changer.

For technical analysis I suggest Evidence-Based Technical Analysis: Applying the Scientific Method and Statistical Inference to Trading Signals.

Aside from technical analysis, I suggest the Market Wizards series. The original book is my favorite, but they're all very good.

Honestly, Naked Forex is a book to study if u really need to learn fx.. It made me what I am today in chart analysis

But in all honesty - important is the understanding of markets , not fancy lines...

Naked forex is the book that transformed my trading for the better.

Hi, who is the, author of the Naked Forex book ?

Books on trading psychology are universally useful. Let's face it, almost without exception, every trader knows the stress before opening a trade and the stress/anxiety while the trade is open, and the instinctive solution to get rid of all this is to close the trade early, even with the smallest profits. At the same time, many people hope that a losing position will turn around. I hope, I do not have to explain that any learning of strategy, price action, market technique and the like is an absolute waste of time in such a self-destructive environment. Even as a professional trader, living in a low-tax country, I make my living from what remains under the bottom line after accounting winners and losers. Traders who realise winners early, but let losses run, will lose money no matter how good they are at analysing price action. This behaviour is caused by your fears, not bad strategies or trading plans. If you are afraid of hammer, chisel and saw, you can't become a carpenter by reading Tage Frid's books about woodworking.
The absolute standard work on trading psychology is Trading in the Zone by Mark Douglas. But I can also recommend the material by Brett N. Steenbarger, including the free articles on his website (http://www.brettsteenbarger.com/articles.htm). For the German speakers here, the book Tradingpsychologie by Norman Welz is also worth reading.

Only then I would consider other books, which is also when the question of specialization arises. As traders, we bet on the outcome of events. Personally, I bet on short-term but frequent reversal patterns, so I am purely technically oriented (and books about patterns/price actions may be useful) and keep fundamental aspects such as political events in mind only as a risk factor to reduce my tail-risk pragmatically. Betting on monetary decisions of the central bank requires a completely different arsenal of knowledge, just like people who make long-term bets based on fundamental data or people who make bets based on political decisions. While they all have in common that they need to find asymmetric risk-to-loss situations and have to learn to deal with the risk correctly, they vary across all trading disciplines, sometimes considerably. Another universal suggestion, therefore, is Market Wizards by Jack Schwager.

Ignore all books that claim they can make you rich, this remains your job.

I read about turtle way or smth like that. Useless stuff. Guy earned tons on bull market, wrote a book how to be great trader, then lose all on bear. Yeah. Great info. Very useful. I was extremely successful in 2017 on btc bull market too. Who want my book?
