To an extent we can all be taken advantage of... a small idea in your mind can end up encompassing your life. For me it was the idea that if I work hard enough, one day I'll be able to trade FX Fulltime. That idea ended up sticking to me and I spent 2 years of my time doing nothing but trading almost every single day. I'm guessing I am not the only one... there are probably many others out there that didn't expect trading to have such a hold over them and they never expected to be so obsessed over a single idea.
But with my experience I have come to realize that expecting success in this field is an extremely unrealistic goal for the simple reason that there are hardly any consistently profitable traders. In my 2 years I was only able to meet one full time trader and even in their case the overall drawdown was above 50%
So I haven't been able to find any consistently profitable traders which does an extremely good job at representing how probable it is that you will succeed as a trader and how ridiculously ambitious you are being if you think you can be one. In any other extremely ambitious field or career choice you can find stellar examples of successful individuals.

Here is a list of some astronauts. Seeing that many individuals have become successful astronauts we can make the conclusion that it's possible that you can be an astronaut too.

Here is a huge list of successful Actors and Actresses. Seeing that an astronomical amount of people have become successful and made careers for themselves in acting, it's possible that you can too.

Here is an extensive list of neurosurgeons. Seeing that there are many successful neurosurgeons we can say that it's possible that you can be a neurosurgeon too.

Here is a list of people who have managed to run 100meteres in under 10 seconds. Seeing that many people have achieved this it's also possible for you to achieve this.

Here is a list of consistently profitable retail forex traders. Oh wait.... where are they? Nowhere to be seen.
The simple and effective point I am making is that, even in the most elite level of career choices you can pick there are always successful individuals you can look up to and you can come to the conclusions that it's "possible" to be successful in those fields regardless of how improbable it is for you to attain that level of success. People have done it and therefore it can be done.
But you as a retail FX trader who's goal it is to be a consistently profitable trader.... If your goal was to be an astronaut, a successful actor, a brain surgeon or to be a world class athlete, those goals would be more realistic than your goal to be a successful trader because hardly any successful retail FX traders exist and there are a countless number of successful individuals in those fields regardless of how achievable those goals are.

I've also included this video because it adds to the point I am making and it's extremely informative.
I've spent 2 years of my life putting all my attention towards trading. That is time I will never get back. I say this so others can make wiser decisions.
