I like some of the principles in this strategy idea - its simple, and therefore time-efficient and not error-prone its objective, not reliant on individuals' chart artistry or recognising Rorschach patterns its not just an entry pattern it focuses on being in positions rather than getting in the key is the profits, not the individual charts success comes from being in trends, trading pattern No.1 I'm lined up to trade my own variant on this from tomorrow night. So far my visual backtesting suggests there is rarely any significant advantage to holding...

My experience with this strategy tells me,..if the basket open on thuesday 3am go in profit until wensday morning 10 am,.close the trades because you dont get better than that,..if the basket on thuesday when open go in negative,.on wensday morning he will reverse and start going in profit,..wait until thursday morning 10 am and close,..

Max profit always came in wensday morning our thursday morning

Guys I'm still waiting for my friend to fix the bugs I picked up last week.

In the mean time if you do use the EA tonight, make sure to use fixed lot not lots per balance, and do not use trailing stop. Alternatively you can still trade tonight manually.

So I mentioned a little while back that I'm busy testing a setting that can be traded daily and its based mainly on trading the London session momentum.

Initial testing is going well so far and if all continues to go well over the next few weeks I'll share the settings.

An issue which might eventually become a problem for me -

I'm trialling a system very parallel to this basket principle starting tonight. Right now I see 22 of a possible 28 pairs for which I can set entry orders. I am using minimal position sizes (spreadbetting, UK) so margin is not going to be an issue for me at this stage. However, going forward, if I want to increase position size I might run into margin issues because of a number of factors.

Firstly, the anticipated margin is not shown on orders, only actual margin on open trades, so its hard to see easily how much your margin exposure will be in advance.

Secondly, in the UK we're on ESMA margin limits - 1:30 for majors, 20 for Australasian.

Thirdly, the firm's T&C's specifically prohibits the setting of multiple orders, for the total of which you don't have enough margin. Not that all the orders are likely to be triggered but that's the rules.

Anyone else running into these obstacles?

I'm with Global Prime in the UK, with a leverage of 1:50. I am using this EA with a lot size of 0.01 per £100 and haven't run into any margin issues.

Forget Ts & Cs - if the platform accepts an order then it's legit - if they impose those rules, then the platform will stop you from placing additional orders once your limit has been reached.

Personally, I would steer clear of spread betting as it's not a true trading environment, and the broker has a vested interest in you losing, possibly hence why you have all of those rules imposed on you.

This week's basket is live with 13 pairs.

So far its off to a rocky start currently floating around -3% after the first 1.4 hours. Its still early and plenty of time to come around.

Ouch well that went fast! SL hit. Unfortunately not a good week guys.

I am experimenting with different opening times now as I do think we can optimize when to get into the market and perhaps my "not set in stone" time of 03:00 is not the most optimal time.

On a good note at least my friend is working on the bug fixes so that should be sorted this week and the daily setting test hit its TP again today.

Looking at my worst performer so far, GBPAUD.
Attached Image

In relation to rule: 4. The previous H4 is green, but if we are going to open basket at 0300hrs next day (Tuesday Morning), we may as well wait for the H4 to fully form. The EA can then run a final confirmatory check to see if the candle has closed below or higher than the previous candle. Alternatively we can open the basket at 0000hrs. Just my observations.

The same appears to be the case for AUDCHF, but the opposite direction. If we waited until 0400hrs to open the basket, we would have seen that the candle changes and closed above the previous close, thus invalid signal and no open trade.
Attached Image

This is USDCHF, the only pair that is in the green. Here you can see that the H4 (at 0400hrs) candle closed in the green, and acts as a further confirmation.

Ultimately, if we are going to wait until the H4 candle has 'almost' formed, we may as well wait until it's fully formed and trade based off that.

I can only go along with the negative reports above re this week's trades. My first time toes dipped in the water and so far its not looking too good.

A couple of fine detail questions. Suppose I put in 10 pending orders based on the Monday NY close. Suppose 6 are triggered: I assume the plan is to run these 6 until they either hit the basket loss limit or I close them out Thursday/Friday. Likewise, I assume I need to keep the 4 pending orders remaining but cancel any whose charts show they've lost their trends.

But is it worth watching the charts of the open trades? Should they be cut if they lose trend or just left to run regardless?
