@ northwind: Do you have any settings for the XAUUSD pair on M15, M30 or H1? Thank you very much
Ignored
Hi xstock,
You have the tools.
Perhaps you can do the XAUUSD testing and post your results for the group.

To improve winning profit percent, can the EA be programmed to incrementally add to winning trades? For example add-on BUY: When EA takes a BUY and price moves x-points up, add one additional BUY, then price moves x-points up, add one additional BUY, etc. User sets the value for x-points and lot size for incremental BUYS. All BUYS have the same TP and SL as the original BUY. For example add-on SELL: When EA takes a SELL and price moves x-points down, add one additional SELL, then price moves x-points down, add one additional SELL, etc. User sets the value for x-points and lot size for incremental SELLS. All SELLS have the same TP and SL as the original SELL.

Hello John, Joe and Chris and everyone,

The topic of adding to winning trades reminded me of a thread "High Flying Trading Method"

https://www.forexfactory.com/showthread.php?t=576707

The analogy Dream Liner used was a food business owner in a fair-where he will have many days where the business would hardly break-even, but there would be couple of days in a year that would more than make up for it,

The position management and add-on was beautiful. The core concept was taking advantage of the movement, when trend begins...

The entry condition here could be the frama ribbon and mm/pm from above...

I hope i didn't hijack the thread...

Thanks

If this is true you have a winner there...It really looks too good to be true lol

I still think your setting is a bit low for the Frama for taking add-on trades. Looks like too many, quick, ups and downs.

From the pic above it looks like it opens the trade on the close of the bar that is painted with the arrow. So yes on those settings with lots of ups and downs it will get you in late and miss the move. But with higher settings could work nicely.

Hi Joe,
So far testing shows EA matches frama indicator on chart.
Ignore the highlighted line, it's from a different EA.
Not many trades on GU.
With frama, if it misses the start of trend there is a long wait for the next change of direction.

Yes, proper execution of trades.
The settings aren't optimal for max profit.
There are 8 versions in forward testing.
Two flavors of frama, #1. straight buy & sell, #2. buy & sell with add-on, have started running on EU and GU, H1 and H4.

Hi Chris,
I agree. The data I had available for testing was crappy.
Now forward testing confirming behavior is what is expected.
Definitely need to change frama period, fast & slow, TP and SL.
Do you have better H1 & H4 frama settings you can share?

Just had EU H1 hit SELL SL and take BUY on frama reversal signal.
Working as it should.

That is a huge setting (500) but what it might give you is an ability to get to BE or a little profit in the "whips".

If you are taking new trades every 100 pips do you have a BE setting in the EA or a trailing stop?

Maybe you will need to adjust the pips required for a re-entry for each TF...Daily 100 pips, 4h 50 pips, 1h 25 pips and with different BE and TS options.

The screen shot on post 35 has some really big runs on it at those settings and would enable lots of re-entries.

Did you look at the suggested thread by aaven...High Flying Trading Method, it has some good options for re-entry management.

Chris

To filter the wrong buy signals in a sell movement, you guys can set an offset from both buy and sell signals. Thus, you might end up with at least 50% proper signals filtering and up to 90% totally wrong signals filtering. I will give you an example. In a sell trend you get 11 sell and 10 buy signals. If you offset both with 30 pips. One cancels the other. Only the real sell ones will do trigger (not all 11 sells, maybe just 5-6 max out of 11) plus 1 or 2 of the fake buy ones (instead of 10 buys, in the example). This will give you entirely different perspective in trading. This is just a regular offset of a signal. There is a far more advanced offset. I call it a smart offset. Once starting with the regular offset, I hope you can figure out the next step in the offset evolution. You just need to practice the standard offset first and maybe, at some point in time, you can see the smart one?

{quote} Last post from me here. Here is a visual example of what i mean. Those signals in the red squares are being filtered and from a negative pips game on the first image, turns into a strategy with a positive pips game, thanks to the offset. Trading becomes quite different then... There are various levels of filters. This is just level 1 - the basic level. I strongly recommend you to take this journey...

I've developed "B" version. I hope no one get confused.

Buy stop or Sell stop pending order with appropriate offset will be placed. You can enter BuyOffsetPoints and SellOffsetPoints. When you leave CloseAtOppositeSignal at false (default value) position will be closed by the new opposite position. Otherwise by the new opposite signal.

A new Buy stop pending order will delete the last Sell stop pending order and vice versa.

Installation:
1) Put indicator (frama ribbon 1.1 (arrows).ex4) in indicators folder: \MQL4\Indicators
2) Put EA (JFFramaRibbonB.ex4) in experts folder: \MQL4\Experts
3) Put XML config (JFFramaRibbonB.xml) in common files folder: \MetaQuotes\Terminal\Common\Files (If someone isn't able to locate common files folder please look here.)

That's it.

Notes:
1) MT5 version isn't included. I haven't got MT5 version of the indicator.
2) In the next step I'll show how to use EA in strategy tester.
