Why is volatility of major pairs so low since August 2019?

i still remember last year average daily movement of EUR/USD or usd/jpy could be 100+- pips. now the average pips of major pairs are around 30 pips.

True; it’s less volatile! You may also know; during the 2012-13 the market was more & more volatile!

Not sure; but I guess then the trading pairs were limited; but not more than thousands of trading pairs!

Maybe everyone is waiting to see if Libra will take over as the main medium of exchange for financial transactions in 2020. China has taken notice and is going to issue it's own crypto to compete. FB has subscribers of 1/3rd of the world population and China has at least 1/5th of the world population. So, heavy weights weighing in on the fate of the conventional money.
Of course there are other reasons such as trade issues etc. that may have contributed to the slow down of transactions in the world.

Libra is a stable coin; so I don’t think there is any issue with Libra!
