Yes, the past always looks so predictable, so orderly. Too bad we can't trade last year's charts. But of course I'm just one of those mean old skeptics - I'm sure parisboy made billions trading Google last year ....

I trade the past because I do not know the future.

And you overestimate me by a factor 1.000, I only made millions last year !

Gravitist, A word of caution: on this thread you never know who your dealing with. Many of us are adults with a past to which money has passed hands in large amounts. I made my money mining Gold and mining Diamond. I've started this thread because this is my passion.

It would not surprise me Parisboy has done well in his lifetime. Nobody has to prove anything to anyone around here. FYI, you can if your on top of it predict future changes and be waiting for them, Use Optuma, do the scans and the pick the currency or stock you want to enter.
Read the "Secret Science of the Stock Market" by Michael S. Jenkins he gives no less than 8 different ways to accomplish that goal.
Everything that is happening today in our markets has happened in the past, it's a called cycles, they repeat, they may take decades to repeat but they repeat. However, all of this requires work. You get out what you put in.

{quote} Tks PB, Makes sense 256 is 2^8. Does this ever change ?? What does TU mean. ?? should one subdivide the envelope into quarters or eights ?? Are there time factors involved ?? S.

By building 3 Envelopes ( 256, 128, 32 Time Units) you generate 3 Centered Moving Averages and 6 Envelopes Limits. which can be used as curvilinear :

Support
Resistance
Targets

similar to Gann Angles (Diagonal Lines) or Horzontal Lines (aka Murrey Math Lines)

Parisboy,
A long while ago you posted something in a different thread (not this one) and it was so remarkable I clipped it and filed it away, but of course because it was so precious it has now vanished (it seems).

If I remember correctly, someone had asked you when you would consider entering or exiting a trade, and you had marked up a couple of charts with all the possible situations where a trade is potentially a good idea. There were about 8 or so different situations for both a long and short trade.

If you don't remember what I'm talking about, that's OK, I'm sure I'll find it again eventually. However I ask in case you know what I mean or would be willing to recreate it. I know it's not a small request as all these things take precious time.

It was something like this, but with a line of text explaining each possible entry and exit.

Clemmo17, everything I post is remarkable !

I remember.

An additional observation : it was what is called a post-mortem analysis - the best way to improve your trading skills and understand what you shoud have done and the limits of the system (methodology you use)

The post should be on Robots4me thread. I will try to find out again.

Hi parisboy. Can you please share the code that you use to produce these envelopes? I found one on your thread but it's giving me different results than the ones you post.

Also - have you ever tried your envelopes on BTC? I tried it based on your examples above on Gold, but the envelopes are all over the place. Not the neat results like with gold.
I tried with All Time High price of 20093 and with the recent high of 13940, divided by 8 to get the octave value, but it doesn't look very good. Any ideas?
