I think you need to take on consideration PA, not just the TDI, need to see the overall picture S&R, PA, etc. before jumping on a trader.

I find the most value in H1 in terms of reliable set-ups.

H1 also has the advantage of less market time (less risk) and are slow enough to think things through and not have to rush.

Agreed. Not convinced about higher TF's, other than for ascertaining S/R. And perhaps TDI action.

I look at this set-up and think 50/50. It may go your way, but for me it would be luck only.

You want the odds stacked a bit higher in your favour. This set-up, for me at least, does not do it.

Not sure, some people will tell you to wait for the candle close below/above the 5 yellow line moving average. I actually should have waited here and not trading at all because of market time and news for today that was going around that time. It now seems to range, however still not hit my SL so i leave this one open, its an demo trade anyways.

either below or below of it probably is a valid signal

Peter the problem i have with these "trends" established making smooth higher highs, higher lows or vice versa is: You never know when it ends? It could be you enter at the middle of the trend and there is room left to hit your profit level. It could be that you enter and 5 pips later the trend is at itīs end... I donīt realy understand yet why people here say this would put any odds in the favor or at least increase your chances. For me thats still 50/50 at best.

I believe thatīs what the author of this strategy called the "conservative" way of an TDI entry. But he also posted a lot of charts where he entered without respecting the 5 SMA.

You're right in that no one knows when the trend will end.....if that were not true, then there would be no market!!

If you pay attention to what lisat keeps saying about checking the next higher timeframe, you WILL have the odds more in your favour. For instance, if your chosen TF is the M30 charts, and you are seeing higher highs and higher lows over the past few sessions, AND you're also seeing higher highs and higher lows on the H1 chart over several more sessions, then it makes sense to now look for a pullback (retracement) and then a return to the trend to enter a Buy trade. The odds are indeed much more in your favour than trying to Sell a retracement hoping that it is going to become a full blown reversal, no?

Yes, occasionally we all get caught out as the retracement does indeed become a reversal, or at least a retracement that is much deeper than we anticipated. That's where two things come into play:

1. Money Management (a well placed SL, appropriate lot size etc etc)
2. Accepting the loss and re-evaluating the situation / currency pair.

We can't win them all, that's for sure!

Don't think like that. Treat demo account like a real account otherways you learn the "wrong" money management.

Read post#718.............I left it on my chart because I like to see how PA interacts with the 5ema line during the trade. Gives me a better feel for what's going on... that's mainly the reason...

Read post#49........ HA candles average a 3-8 candle run in most cases when it reverses... That's why I want to enter on candle 1 or 2 if I see a set up. A single candle on the 4hr nets you 30-60 pips or more generally. If it goes 3-4 candles you've already made 80-150 pips.
That is way you enter on candle 1 / 2. It is the start of a new trend (maybe - you don't know). To enter a trade after candle 2 you starting to "gamble" with the trend direction. H1 green will still show a angle where M15 green will start to go flat, hook over, check mark.
Blue dot's
H1 wick has pulled back forming (?) a pinbar, M15 is already going down
H1 green going flat, M15 angle below 5
H1 stoch direction up, M15 down.
The two time frames do not confirm trend direction - no trade.
Look at the bar's and wicks on both chart's. Both side of the candle which mean that the buyer / seller's are fighting each for control of trend direction.
Use the information jmn / lisat has given you.

Yes, thats actually what i am doing already (well at least trying to do to be honest). But its hard to get any routine here because especially on day trading time frames market structure on the pairs i would like to trade "market structure" looks random/chaotic to me. I donīt think much for the reason because i am not able to see HHs and HLs (uptrend) like you said. But more like because most of the times markets really ARE giving that random/chaotic look. Itīs the reality, simple as that.

Even if the market structure is easier to read on H4/Daily because there is less up and down chaos for every second candle i canīt see where this would really l help to improve. Results might be only improve if experience grow, but how do you get experience with looking at H4/Daily charts not moving. Its basically giving you a static picture and wonīt update in 4 hours or up to the next day.

Also looking at history charts to see what TDI was doing on certain price action didnīt help me a lot so far. Otherwise there is no way you could learn trading these higher time frames without having to spend a few years live with it before you can come to any conclusion (have that constant results you can rely on or not). Honestly i donīt want to spend a few years cherry picking these few good valid TDI signals you get on H4 each month if you not trade 28 pairs just to get the result after 3 years of doing this that i didnīt work.

But long story short, maybe there is some practical tool could help me to first identify the overall market structure for the pairs i want to trade each new day with london opening telling me whats up trending / down trending or going sideways, instead of me having to do this manually wrong each new day? Or well at least tell me on what markets to focus on so lets say it tells me EUR/USD is "UP" because it somehow programmatically identidies these higher highs and higher lows so i could have a second "manual" look at it to confirm this and see if i find a TDI signal instead of looking for signals where market structure is wrong anyways. Maybe this would help me to improve, donīt know.

I sympathize with your predicament, I really do. I can't offer you a great deal of advice because for one, I trade M5 / M15 TF's as I don't want to get into any long term trading....and two, I don't use or like the TDI indicator.....I never have and I told eelfranz exactly that, which is when I left this thread way back before he passed away. That's not to say that the TDI is no good, I just don't like it., I prefer stochastic (with the right settings), but this too takes time to fully understand. You'll see idiots (even on this thread) who think that the Stochastic is merely an 'oversold / overbought' indicator and is no good in trends. This kind of ignorance is sad to see.

Also, I don't believe that watching 28 pairs is a good idea and I really believe that it is not only detrimental to understanding the market, but it's also (mostly) bullshit put forward by those with big ego's!! The reality is that, imo, 30 pips per day (average over a month) is ample to generate a good return for you. If you watch (say) 4 pairs, and only ever the SAME 4 PAIRS NO MATTER WHAT, you will learn those 4 pairs 'personality' and you will see how they move. In a way, it's like comparing the North Atlantic Ocean with the South Pacific Ocean.....it is all part of the same expanse of water, yet the two oceans have very different personalities. Both oceans can be crossed in relatively small crafts, but the different personalities of these oceans requires different skills. The same is true of the market. The GBP/USD pair for instance, behaves very differently to (say) EUR/JPY. Both can be effectively traded but they have very different personalities and require a different approach. Unfortunately, there is no magic bullet in gaining the required knowledge/skills for this. The only way is to pick your 4 pairs (or 5 but no more) and do not deviate from them. If 3 of your pairs are not performing today, then so be it......don't go surfing around to find other pairs. LEARN what your pairs are telling you and get to know them well. An analogy I like is that we sit at the bottom of the FX tree, and we gratefully accept any fruit that falls into out hands. If no fruit falls today and we decide to climb the tree and go out on a branch (limb) to take the fruit, we risk falling and getting hurt.....with no fruit!! We cannot force the market to give up it's pips.....we can only learn the personality of the pairs we choose and wait for the pips to come to us.

I cannot stress enough that attempting to watch 28 pairs will teach you nothing and will end in frustration and losses. You don't need a zillion pips....30 / day will be fine and that is certainly possible once you get to know your chosen few pairs.

As for the TDI, well......it's not on my charts because (for me) it is a very unclear and unhelpful indicator.

May I ask you a question ? Why did you choose to trade DE30 instead of other FOREX currencies ? (I apologize if that question has already been asked )
