Gold is not my favourite asset, I trade it rarely. I prefer SP500 but mostly major currencies as I am a swing trader. But yes lately gold has been quite volatile and I feel sorry not having catched this 8 days momentum :-p

Yes, the big players wait for dips or tops because it's where most of the dumb orders are. They then can be counter part which allows them to unload their very big orders with minimal slippage.
