Been a while since I've posted anything here. I've been tweaking an automated trading strategy for ...

So, let's see your back testing - I'm sure that will help us all. I've not seen any posts in almost 2-months that show any evidence that this system is profitable, which is exactly what my back testing has shown.

Couldn't agree more... Broker differences have indirectly led to more than one disagreement here at FF about the validity of a system. One of the reasons I'm much more of a fundamental trader than an "indicator" trader. If an economic event happens ...

So as to not derail this thread from how the system was originally presented, I won't go in to any more detail that I already have: Trade only with the trend, don't trade directly in to major support or resistance, and apply some sensible money ...

Slightly better results for just this year with your modified rules: OCO orders and close at the end of the week whether in profit or not. But still a loser for me on Tradestation. This is trading one standard lot per order. My guess as to why my ...

In a nutshell, by the original rules posted, this system is a loser over the past 4+ years. Tradestation summary report and equity graph are attached. Since it was quite clearly pointed out earlier that this is "a once a week trade method ..... NOT ...

There is no better "instrument" for determining trend than your own eyes. If price is making higher highs and higher lows, you're in an uptrend. Lower highs and lower lows, and you're in a downtrend. Anything else, and you're ranging. No fancy ...

Yes, 1-hour, calculating based on the previous 1-hour candle, but.... as I said, with some discretion, as well as being selective with the hours traded depending on the pair. The concept is a good one, but would need filters and discretion, and ...

Thanks for posting this. I have been playing around with something similar on H1 charts for the past few weeks, looking to add a short-term strategy to my trading. This gave me a few ideas about what I'd been missing. I took the rules as posted, ...

Finally got it updated. The VPS is another story... I'll have to plug in results based on the live account results, and the 3-pair demo in the trade explorer will also not be updating. I've not had a whole lot of luck keeping demos going the past ...

Ugh... Just checked my trade explorer in my profile. The 3-pair demo is on that same VPS, and I see there were no trades reported by it today. I suspect that box has been down since last night, and probably didn't take the G/U trade either. I know ...

Hey 2+2... I've been unable to connect to the VPS that runs this demo and one of my others. Today was a winner, I just don't have the exact number until I can look at the account history. Hopefully, my VPS provider will have that box up soon. Also ...

Let's not start it up again... Earlier on, the rep from MBT asked for an example of why hedging would be useful. More than anything else, I posted this as an example in response to his request. I know the debate has gone on for years, and will ...

If you get gaps between 08:00 and 09:00GMT, it's a platform and/or data issue. Generally, any broker's demo platform will be less reliable than their live platform (less important to them, and they will often use the demo environment for testing), ...

I'll agree to disagree. The reason hedging would work out better in my specific case, at least (I'm with MBT, so I can't hedge now), is that my short-term retraction trades are generally much larger position size than the long term trade they are in ...

Non-hedged: Buy Long Sell Long ** Buy Short Sell Short Buy Long ** Hedged: Buy Long Buy Short Sell Short Both of these scenarios end with me in a long position, having opened and closed a short position in between. In the no-hedging example, I've ...

If I am in a long-term position on a pair, and want to take a short-term position in the opposite direction to capitalize on a retraction, for example, with my long-term bias still in place, why would I want to pay spread and commission to close my ...

I was intrigued by your opening post... I'm experimenting with some short-term strategies to complement the long-term stuff I do. Interested in following along with those that are doing well trading more frequently than mine. There are a lot of ...
