Oanda, I have a question about free margin. Suppose I have taken an oversized position where the margin is shown as 103.00% on MT4, which corresponds to roughly 48.5% on your mobile app. As luck would have it my position takes off and I move the SL ...

I also use a broker visible SL which is larger than my hidden (virtual) SL. However, the real reason I am posting here is to get your thoughts on what do between 5pm and 6pm NY time if you are holding onto a position. I tend to remove the SL shortly ...

Well, for one the FXE captures the NY session primarily, high volume, thus prices are more significant. The pattern is a wound up W which is more frequently encountered in commodities. Once I saw this in the daily chart of BP (British Petroleum) on ...

I rarely post here but today I am sounding an alarm because of a very rare pattern I observed today in FXE (the EURUSD etf). Based on this rare bullish pattern I expect a very powerful move higher imminently (e.g. tomorrow morning and later). Full ...

Exited EURUSD at 10:42 EDT with more than a $1000 loss. My thinking was that the short side was getting too crowded and this pair may break out above the 1.0864 level, triggering a Friday night squeeze in the process. Friday nights are notoriously ...

The EURUSD monthly chart seems to imply the upside is over. There may be some stop hunting Sunday night that may push EURUSD slightly up. But then the larger trend should reassert itself. Better yet is to go short EURCAD. It has 400 pips to go ...

hey recently discovered AUDJPY and having been trading it more than any other pair. I like the way it moves and the $ change per pip. This pair receives more tick updates per minute than both EURUSD and USDJPY, and as many as 7 to 10 times more than ...

@acetrader I never quite understood the bad rap that ppl here give Oanda. Yes the spreads are not great compared to offshore/European/Asian brokers. But if you give them enough volume they're going to give you rebates that effectively bring the ...

thank you so much for posting a complete example. I was missing this part: accounts/111-111-111111-111 from the URI. Seems like the v20 docs are not that great... thanks again!

Have you guys read the new Oanda API license agreement? url . It talks about fees but they are not specified as far as I could tell. I followed links to the support area but nothing there. I don't know what to make of it. Is the V20 API still free ...

How did you do that? I followed the samples on this page url to the letter but no luck. My bearer token is correct, I can use it to get streaming quotes without issues. But candle retrieval doesn't work. Triple checked spelling, etc... no errors.

This system seems to be built on a fallacy. You build a poorly performing strategy and then bet against it. Consider an extreme variant of this. Namely moving average crossovers. It can be demonstrated through backtesting that it's a losing ...

hello there. I have been backtesting strategies using EURUSD and NZDUSD 1 minute bars, spanning 15+ years. One key takeaway is that the strategies have shown big losses around news releases, such as 8:30 EDT nonfarm payrolls, GDP, FOMC...especially ...

Looks like USDCAD is caught between a rock (EURUSD) and a hard place (WTICOUSD), thus unable to make a decisive move yet. On the higher timeframes I see a failed parabolic rise which should result in a deeper retracement to approx where the parabola ...
