    • mrmikal replied Feb 5, 2008

So if the information is less than reliable, how can it be useful? Furthermore, I suppose that NFP provides "some" context, but again, the amount of information that is being divulged in this thread isn't particularly useful yet. We yet to have ...

Joe, I realize that there is conceptually a premise of utility from sharing this information, but what we are sorely missing from this exercise are 2 very important things to getting any use from this: First and foremost is the context...if I told ...

Interesting little thread that's going here. It sounds to me, J, that you had a better average trade than you normally make and you felt like gloating a little bit because of the euphoria that you felt by closing your position at 130 pips. You ...

F, It happens to the best and most experienced of us. I don't want to completely equate FX trading to gambling, but it's sort of the same thing...but you have to the proper bank-roll (i.e. money management probabilities) in order to survive the ...

Project: Samurai - Day 5-8 — Minimal progress was made over the weekend. I flew out to Florida for a much needed vacation. I started on the Maintenance service on the flights, but I was having a hard time figuring out how I wanted to make it ...

Project: Samurai - Day 3 — As promised, the Quote Multicast service works like a charm. So I'm sending quotes across a multicast queue and another program is picking up the quotes and now databasing. So also as promised, the quote databasing ...

Yeah...it probably doesn't make sense to people who use retail brokers, but here's a thought...with a GBP/JPY average of 2-3 pips at Interactive Brokers + commission, you'll probably cut that spread in half...recalculate and get back to us.

Thanks for the nod, Dave. Your previous post was very thoughtful. I would like to make a slight counter-intuative retort, only because I'd like to get your opinion. Let me preface all of this by saying that I pretty much agree with everything that ...

Are Central Banks driving the World Economy into recession?
    • mrmikal replied Aug 9, 2007

It's tough to argue with your logic. I tend to agree that there's a fine line the central banks are walking with regards to rates. Unfortunately, we're at bit of a threshold. Economies are still moving along, and prices are showing moderate ...

FC, I read both of your posts, and I you have to see that while you may believe in theory that the Market for the EUR/CHF is independent of the markets for the USD/CHF and EUR/USD, it's just not the case, and for good reason. It sounds reasonable ...

      EURUSD USDCHF Hedge Question
    • mrmikal replied Jul 7, 2007

T, Unfortunately, it's a bit more complicated than you'd think. The price feed would come from connecting to the API. Basically, you'd implement COM+ interfaces provided by MBT. Inside your implementation, you would connect to the MBT price feed by ...

I'm not 100% keen on the system, because it seems to me that it would just be a play on the carry trade against the (EURJPY, GBPJPY, EURCHF and GBPCHF). As long as the JPY and CHF are weak, you'll be in great shape. As far as closing and starting ...
