Yeah, often markets change direction, i.e. reverse at the start of a new year, the latest example is S&P 500 downtrend which started in January. However you should pick trending markets if you want to implement that idea.

Well, on the contrary demo trades are not passed to LP, hence, you may see they are executed faster compared to live. This creates distortion which you should take into account when you backtest your trading system.
