my MT4 screwed up boys I did an update from build 218 to 220, and now its stuck in some never ending loop of self updating. I am going to try tweak it some more, and if it still doesn't start up then I'd have to start a new forward test. bummer!

no new trades since last post. And it makes sense, because there seems to be some what of a trend reversal on the euro .. or if not a reversal, at least the steady down trend has been disrupted. The filters have kicked in and the EA is staying ...

also very important to note is that my stochs are running on M15, as I pointed out in my original post. Therefore, you should get stoch cross overs more often. The logic there is if the break out happens in the H1 time frame, then you should get the ...

RR, are you treating the break out as a state? The way I do it is that once the break out happens, after that I consider it in an "enter-able" state. Do not expect them to all "line up" at any given instant, I don't think that will happen too often. ...

for the break out, I don't use "days", I use whatever time frame the EA is attached to. So in my case it has all been H1. Therefore, I've been looking for 20 and 55 hour break outs.

no, no, and no. I already explained why I don't adopt their "wait time". I do not add new positions, although I don't see that part hurting my trading strategy. If at some point I implement that (or if anyone does), i think it would be profitable. ...

and yes, the indicator I use for volatility is ATR (like the turtles) as Alex pointed out.
- BitShifter replied Oct 25, 2008
Its true that there are a lot of these "systems" nowadays. But let me just try to explain what I was trying to do when I came up with my modified turtle system. I basically wanted to implement the turtle system. I was not looking to create a new ...

then perhaps you should take a look at the back test results I posted. Clearly just earlier this year, the euro was in an up trend, and at the beginning of summer it was nothing but turbulent. See the back test results I posted on the first post and ...

and as always, update of the forward test. Now, this little fit of 0.13 volume trades that the EA has been opening today could be either an indication that the trend is coming to an end, OR a bug in my EA in either case, that is some interesting ...

Answering some questions — 1) trailing stops: yes, its 2*N. But I've found thru back testing that this is not a big factor. In other words you can probably fix it to a constant that you are comfortable with, and the result will still be about ...

I compute the trailing stop based on volatility. It generally stays between 50 and 150. And the indicators are used on close price. Here is another update of the forward testing with a nice $3k floating profit at the moment.

sorry, posted an earlier report. Attached is the latest one.

forward test update — Thought I should post another update of my ongoing forward testing of TrendChamp. Also to answer the question above, the exit occurs at (1) opposite signal, (2) trailing stop , or (3) stop loss.

Well today is the last day of the month, so I figured I should post the forward tests results so far.

the MACD and stoch numbers I determined on my own. Well not quite. 6 bars MACD is generally taken when looking for trade patterns in MACD based systems. Similar thing in CCI based systems, they look at last 6 bars (see Woodie's system). As for the ...

Well, I've developed many EAs, so I really don't have any special "sentimental" attachment to this one, if that is what you are suggesting. But yes, there are EAs that can produce much higher profits than this one. I can write an EA that takes ...

Can you run a backtest on any EA with your historical data and see what the tick modeling accuracy is? I can also go as back as Jan 1 2005 on my account, but the accuracy drops to 30%. Also, what broker are you using? Perhaps I can just download a ...

I have already tried updating the data from the History Center, but I keep getting No Updates Available. If you have longer, and more accurate history dataset, send it to me and I will run the EA on it. As for your comment about blowing up the ...

responses — 1) Its using the original Turtle system, I read this in a book. I am not aware if there is any forum thread on it. Perhaps there is, I haven't searched. But you can find a lot of info about Turtle trading on the web if you do a ...
