Also have to remember that finance and trading has been supplanted by kids who want to do a startup or create the next "facebook" why spend all your day working out a trading model or strategy and writing code etc for it when you can build the next ...

Exotics are very well co-integrated and stationary i.e USDSEK & USDNOK, USDCZK & USDHUF etc.. However the spreads of these in the retail market are so large that it makes it impossible to make decent profits when trying to arbitrage. All other pairs ...

Indeed, the positive carry JPY pairs all have a mean streak when things start to fall -- hence why I stay away from them completely right now. They tend to appreciate like crazy and then tank just as quick. I'm much the same I have larger position ...

Hey Patience I remember seeing your account on myfxbook quite some time ago growing 2-5% per month - I remember because I figured you were using some grid strategy (This was quite some time ago). If I remember correctly this was before the big JPY ...

Scaling in and out with multiple positions on a currency (sometimes 20 or more) has really helped in dealing with floating losses as there is always quite a number of trades that are positive to help balance out negatives, however your point is ...

I'm surprised so few people are carry trading at all given the responses in this thread. Seems like everyone is looking for those 100% per month capital gain growth..
- drgoodvibe replied Apr 29, 2013
Yea, that's definitely an option, however I have a hypothesis that currencies such as USDTRY and others like it that have a high interest rate yield as well as fast growing economies will over time have their currencies appreciate substantially. ...

Yup, you would technically have to get 55%-59% correct so more than half to be even slightly profitable based on my calculations. However, like I've said before in normal forex, scalping requires a TP of 3-7Pips to get over spread while SL is ...

In this particular case, the strategy wouldn't have been right more than 20% of the time in a normal forex environment with spread. Only without spread is it up at 75% hence, 60 second binaries works quite well for it in particular. Having said ...

Think of this way, you have a scalping strategy that would only win 20% of the time with a spread even if you keep 100% of the gain. But without a spread you win 75% of the time but keep 75% of the gain. If this strategy was used just trading forex ...

I trade 60 second binaries in place of a scalping strategy in low volatility periods. It works well because of no spread, which in regular forex would eat up the bulk of the profits made by this strategy. Really rather quite simple.. Currently ...

I use 60 second binary options to replace a scalping strategy in periods of low volatility during the Tokyo session. It works because a scalping strategy on most pairs during the Tokyo session become mostly unprofitable due to the spread paid. ...

Problem is that you need the two fx pairs to be cointegrated, not necessarily correlated. Correlation is not important for pair trading..
- drgoodvibe replied Nov 22, 2011
Just fyi gang.. I have done a statistical test using R on EURUSD and GBPUSD.. and the results are that these pairs are not cointegrated. Thus doing this type of hedge pair trading strategy will not work on these two currency pairs. It only works ...
