the easiest and most reliable metod is the support and resistance levels + fibo. usually since 2011, U-turns have been in September. this year will be the same.

I think that I will base my GOLD forecast as an extrapolation of the next weeks (trend)... I think the eurusd will show its true color/direction... and also the gold vs usd and gold vs eur... Am really interested where this will go... I see no reason for the trend to stop, at least till end of OCT... but had to be careful, at least for the next week...

Gold Update: Wave "W" as part of a ZigZag (5-3-5) is nearly finished - i expect a corrective a-b-c for Wave "X" and than the final impulse to complete Wave [b]. Sixer {image}

Yeah was thinking about that option myself But on the plus side, it is hardly to expect risks going down even though there might be some "stall" of risky events... As I have seed, will need to see what happens this and next week... I expect things go in the same direction, as extrapolation of present... so eurusd going slowly down, gold vs eur and usd going up.... much more in gold vs eur for the eurusd going slowly down reasons... Will see what happens, need some more confidence/feedback before I start hit it hard, specially with leverage

gold first started to spike after the Hong Kong airport was taken over by the children protestors

in a few hours, the price will come back down once the airport resumes normal operation and the risks subside

that is what i see on the chart

1560 is a good target for bulls but it could be out of reach

a test of the support levels is likely if the market turns to risk-on and stocks recover

"The net-long positions in the futures market are at an extreme territory and the total ETF positions are also substantial. If the newsflow becomes less supportive, a profit-taking wave could push gold prices easily towards USD 1,400 per ounce again. In addition, we think that the amount of monetary policy easing by the Fed and the ECB for this year is mostly priced in."
"So this will unlikely push gold prices to new highs. Moreover, we expect the US dollar to be resilient for the remainder of this year despite Fed rate cuts. This is because waves of risk aversion will also support the US dollar. Taking the above together we keep our gold price forecast for the end of 2019 at USD 1,400 per ounce, but we raise our forecast to USD 1,600 (from USD 1,500) for the end of 2020."

This is a source of what's triggering the flight to quality and safe haven demand. Although the spike we saw most recently occured at the same time as the US equities accelerated sell off as well as a quick and significant drop in bond yields. I don't think this move had a specific trigger, it was just more of the same theme we've been seeing today. The increase in demand for safe haven is linked to the hong kong situation, Argentina's developing economic crisis, and of course US-China trade disputes.

I don't think 1560 is a stretch, just wait and see, we will get there.
