The Cat & Dragon - GJ Free House

I know there are going to be a few people out there thinking... ' hey ho, Cat's got another thread going!! ', but hey, I'm always looking to impart my knowledge, for better or for worse, so why not.

There doesn't seem to be a GJ discussion thread, so why not have one here, for what is, by miles, the single best forex pair to trade on the planet, and anyone who trades it knows that to be true. Fantastic daily range, big moves, very obedient to the technicals as a rule, low spread, and lots of volatility, in fact, everything that you could possibly want from a forex pair. Learn to trade the dragon, and you really don't have to look elsewhere.

Those who know me know how my threads work. Post what you like, trades, ideas, opinions, your S&R, in fact, anything you think may be useful for others, but what I don't want here, because this is a discussion thread and not an interactive one, are people posting trades willy nilly, without reason or explanation. If your sole purpose is to show others your trading prowess, then this is most definitely not the thread for you.

I shall do my very best to post my pre-London technical analysis, my main S&R levels, likely direction for the day or morning, possible entry and exit levels and anything else I deem worth sharing throughout the trading day, and I will be delighted if others do the same, so that we can get a nice little GJ analysis/discussion group going that will be of help to all.

That's about it. Have a good weekend, and I hope to see a few of you next week. I'm away Monday, but Tuesday I shall be here with any luck. I posted a brief few words on how I think GJ is set up at the moment on the Dragon Riders interactive thread if anyone is interested.

Oh, and I did a google search to see if a pub called the Cat and Dragon actually exits, but I couldn't find one, so if anyone out there knows of one, then let us know

Sweet! Is there any system or do we just post GJ charts from our own systems and styles?

Whatever you like..charts, jokes, porn...okay, best leave out the porn I guess, but if it's clean, and it helps pass the day, then go for it. We all have our own systems and charts, so post away if you think it'll help.

It seems admin have moved this from discussion over to interactive, probably because it focuses on a forex pair rather than a general topic. That's okay though, it makes no difference to its content, though there will now be two interactive GJ threads up and running, this one, and Dragon Riders, and it was not my intention to muscle in on that one, but I guess the more the merrier, and GJ traders can choose between them or look in on both.

Just one rule here, and that is that if you post trades, then they must be supported by at least some explanation as to why, whether it be a chart, or whatever, and the same for exits.

See you Tuesday.

I like trading the Dragon, so I would be popping in often I guess.

Or you could pop into my thread as well.

One last question cat...

What timeframes will we be addressing? I am excited about this because there are so many ways to read the market, and I learned all of them from right here at FF. I myself cannot run any threads because of a mental flaw. I have no patience.

Morning guys & gals,

Away yesterday so missed that lovely up move, which, by the way, I did predict for Monday or Tuesday, back up towards Friday's high.

So , here we are, back up around Friday's high. I think this could go higher today, the level indicated on the chart. ATM, though, I have some R firstly around 915, then above that at around 930. Above the 30m time frame, there is no resistance on my charts before the levels I've indicated on the H6 chart I'm posting.

It can drop as well though from here as it did last week, but for me it looks set to go higher, though things can change.

That's my take on the Dragon for now.

I use a multiple tf strategy jmn, so can't really say exactly which one, so at the moment infront of me I have a 20 second tf open, then 1m, 3m, 10m, 30m, H1, H3/4/6.

This way, I can cover all of the major potential S&R levels and nail optimum entries, well, that's the plan anyway.

Thanks MF, and I shall endeavour to

I've also got some MA potential resistance at 940, and if it breaks above that, then today's R1 at 963 looks like it should offer stiff R if it gets there.

We've got the UK budget coming up tomorrow, and that should really move the pound one way or the other. Technically, GJ should move higher, and for those who want a higher limit, then the Daily chart is showing clear water up to today's R3 which is 15,130, but it's got to get breal clear of today's R1 @ 14,965, which might be a tough nut to crack today.

Support seems to be the H1 200ema which I have at 895. Below that, today's Central Pivot at 864 looks like a potentially very strong level.

Very strong looking 90m/H3 shooting star just formed - definitely not bullish candles.

This is how I calculate pivot levels.

H=149.22
L=147.63
C=149.01 During the week, taken at 5pm Eastern Standard (NY time)

R3=150.81
R2=150.21
R1=149.61
P=148.62
S1=148.02
S2=147.03
S3=146.43

The picture has obviously changed since before the London open. Typical pre-London fake, I say typical because this is one thing I have noticed trading GJ, it is big on fakes, so those not familiar with it, watch out, as some of the best entries can be had anticipating them, difficult though it can be.

Some red flag data coming up at the top of the hour, but short term anyway, this Dragon is now looking bearish. Right now however, it has found a support level, and so I would not be surprised to see a pullback, to perhaps around 910, from where, there could be a good short opportunity, though we'll have to see. Can it push higher than today's high? Well, to me right now it is looking unlikely, but we'll have to see what the UK Inflation report hearings throw up.

A quick word on times of day to trade GJ.

I find this pair moves all day and all night, well, after midnight UK time anyway. When I'm trading the Dax, I don't have to be at my desk until just before 7am London time, but with GJ, it is best to be ready to trade from 6am, as yesterday's move shows. There are quite often significant moves which begin this early on the GB pairs, so for me, though it means getting up a whole hour earlier, it usually pays by the end of the month.

Lingering at its current support. I find quite often if it lingers longer than 40 minutes at its support, it would break down. So will have to see in this case.
