Japan GDP • Thursday 9.8.2019.

Following surprising growth of 2.2% QoQ annualized in Q1, the Japanese economy has showed signs of slowing down in Q2.

In late June, the Tankan survey, an index used as an indicator of GDP growth, suggested GDP in Japan may be underwhelming in Q2. The large enterprises manufacturing index and outlook softened from Q1, while the small enterprises manufacturing index and outlook contracted in Q2.

Leading economic activity indicators have also been relatively subdued, in particular industrial output. Industrial production has contracted the last five months, with output falling 4.1% YoY in June, a much sharper decline than what consensus forecasts suggested.

In response to a decelerating economy, the Bank of Japan (BoJ) has suggested further monetary easing may be warranted. While I do not expect the BoJ to make any policy adjustments at this time, a sharper-than-expected slowdown in Q2 could push the BoJ to take a more dovish stance.

back down again but will it recover? looks like there is no follow through down so it could be a bounce back up

The White House is holding off on a decision about licences for U.S. companies to restart business with Huawei Technologies Co. after Beijing said it was halting purchases of U.S. farming goods, according to people familiar with the matter.

USD / JPY is preparing to turn up. Oscillators show ugly and irregular divergences. Which meanwhile can work. USD / JPY cannot overcome the support of 105.53, but also cannot stay above the Tenkan line.

I disagree, there's still momentum for it to continue down a little more I believe

Either is fine. As long as you make some green pips.

Short position right now. Will cut if something happen.

I'm not sure about relying on trump tweets, they might affect the market a little but not as much as people think

OBsayMkMoney Aug 9, 2019 9:02am | Post# 81053

Technicals are whispering bounce to me. Down to just under the 105.5 for a third bottom, then back up again. Hopefully it hits and bounces before EOD. If not I am thinking this is the last down week and we will start our way up Sun/Mon. If a twit comes out, it will be to reverse this down action. That last part is my inner conspiracy theorist.

PURE SPECULATION!!!
10:15 - 11:30 turn around. Bulls will create a Bearish dip until then

when was it? anyway for exemple Brexit, when Brexit was voted GBP drops but it was able to recover after a while plus it was already on a downward trend, news has an affect but not that much
having said that the exemple of Brexit probably isn't the best as it did take months to recover but what I'm implying is that even from a major event the market recovered

Trump came out and said something negative again

https://www.cnbc.com/2019/08/09/trum...ith-china.html

President Donald Trump said Friday the U.S. will cut ties with Chinese telecom giant Huawei, but that could change if there’s a trade deal with China.
