Is it Cajun, is it Zydeco, best ask Wayne. He’s the Louisiana born singer & accordionist, and his band rocked this night. (Guitarist taking a few early licks straight out of the Dicky Betts/Allman Brothers book, I note- but why not lol) 2009. Wayne Toups - Please Explain (Live) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fBRSAL0U-Gc

I think everyone steals licks from everyone else!! I know that for every lick that I create, I must take a couple of dozen from other people/music as well....and I'm most certainly not ashamed to say that....the licks from the legends are, well, legendary!!

When I listen to bluegrass or Cajun music (which I haven't listen to in a long time), I always remember this epic duel from Deliverance....which was a pretty freaky movie when it came out!

On the birthday list today, Mr Neil Young kicks things off. Neil Young is a Canadian singer, songwriter and guitarist who as a member of Buffalo Springfield had the 1967 US No.17 single 'For What It's Worth'. Joined Crosby, Stills Nash & Young who had the 1970 US No.1 and UK No.5 album DejVu. As a solo artist Young scored the 1972 US No.1 and UK No.10 single Heart Of Gold, and his 1972 UK No.7 album Harvest spent 66 weeks on the UK chart. In 2008 a newly discovered trapdoor spider Myrmekiaphila neilyoungi was named after the singer.

There's just so many great songs that it's hard to pick just a couple, but here goes.....

Just listening to this song reminded me of something that happened years ago when my father died. He was in his coffin wearing a suit and looking very regal and my friend who came to pay his respects tucked a $20 note into my Dad's jacket. I knew why, but others who noticed asked why did he do this? This is why........

Many people believe that when you die you are transported to 'the other side' across the water on a ferry. The grim reaper, or his aid is the skipper of the ferry, otherwise known as the ferryman. He will demand payment for his service once you get out onto the water, but you MUSTN'T pay him until you get to the other side. If you do, you will never complete your journey to 'the other side.' My friend was making sure that my dad had some cash in his pocket to pay the ferryman. True story.

RealJumper you've posted some great videos and probably one of my favorite Neil Young songs is 'Powder Finger'
"Look out Mama there's a white boat coming up the river"

(Secret Place)
You're everything I want
Your the breath inside in me
In your arms is where I find my place
Here I am, here I am

Father, I love your presence
Your smile is life to me
I know I can hold in your hands
I trust in you, I trust in you

I wanna go most deeper
Take me closer to you
I just want to find you
In the secret place
At your feet I bow down
Just because I want you
See your glory

Everything I wanna is to see
Your power and your glory in me
You majesty is real and deep
I can hear your voice in my being
You're everything I want
Your the breath inside in me
In your arms is where I find my place
Here I am, here I am

Father, I love your presence
Your smile is life to me
I know I can hold in your hands
I trust in you, I trust in you

I just want to find you
In the secret place
