The space agency is trying to explore the surface of Venus with a rover, something that has never been accomplished before. "With a surface temperature in excess of 840 degrees Fahrenheit and a surface pressure 90 times that of Earth, Venus can turn lead into a puddle and crush a nuclear-powered submarine with ease," NASA said. "While many missions have visited our sister planet, only about a dozen have made contact with the surface of Venus before quickly succumbing to the oppressive heat and pressure." That is a big job and requires a lot of research and self educating. I will not waste my time for $15K.

It's their way of getting valuable ideas at rock bottom prices! It reminds me of photography contests where the companies behind the contests gain full rights to photos you submit for practically nothing.

But consider the fame coming with it and offer following if you are the one with the idea. Nice challenge whatever the prize is. It is a real project for many in research labs, master students etc.. to test themselves. You don't do such things for the prize.

Yes, I had the same idea when I saw this news. I think you would spend a lot more than $15k just on your design. Easily more in fact.

Well, that is a good point when it comes to NASA related stuff. But I wouldn't accept that excuse for photography contests.
