    The Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) rose 0.4 percent in October on a seasonally adjusted basis after being unchanged in September, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Over the last 12 months, the all items index increased 1.8 percent before seasonal adjustment. The energy index increased 2.7 percent in October after recent monthly declines and accounted for more than half of the increase in the seasonally adjusted all items index; increases in the indexes for medical care, for recreation, and for food also contributed.     A key measure of U.S. consumer prices unexpectedly cooled in October despite fresh tariffs on Chinese goods, a sign price gains may be slow to reach the Federal Reserve’s target even after interest-rate cuts this year. The core consumer price index, which excludes volatile food and energy costs, rose 2.3% from a year earlier, a Labor Department report showed Wednesday. That missed economist estimates, while the broader CPI climbed 0.4% and 1.8% annually, with both readings topping forecasts. The core measure was up 0.2% on the month, matching projections.

Now the question is weather The fed won't cut rate by the end of this year or they will lower rate in excuse of being the uncertainty.

Most of to all Feds agree that the US data being released has been good. The major concerns have been inflation, higher corporate debt, and the uncertainty of the US/China trade deal. See how the markets slumped for all currencies when it came to the US/China fiasco in the recent past few days as we aren't getting a concrete assurance if a deal is going through or not.

If Fed were to cut the rate it would be to signal what's happening globally and not domestically.

fed don't actually want to cut rates so readily because low rates hurts the banks but the constant pressure and insults powell gets from trump is a problem and i'm sure powell is buckling under that pressure. The next rate decision will show if powell is still giving in to trump pressure and cuts or he stands up to trump and holds.

Its Goldilocks data for stock markets. Not strong enough for the Fed to even consider a hike anytime soon and not weak enough to get markets worried about the US economy. Rates will stay put for now with a bias towards the downside next year which the markets are going to love and will keep fueling this rally along with trade deal optimism. Personally I know the markets are way over leveraged on cheap debt, corporate debt and buybacks (over 50% of corporate debt is BBB rating, just above junk status). But as long as markets keep going up, all looks good on the surface. But when it breaks (and it will break), the market crash is going to be huge and rapid as the corporate debt bubble comes crashing down with downgrades and defaults and not to mention pension funds tied into all of this too. We got a taste of it in December last year when the Fed raised interest rates one to many times and the markets tanked. By conventional monetary policy the Fed where right to raise rates, but ever since QE the markets and the economy are not the same and normal monetary policy does not work anymore.
