Perfect timing on the release when spreads are the highest and all markets closed. What a scam!

small positions with long term view. Look up dollar cost averaging but focus on buying low and selling high.
Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

The Chinese company is one of the world’s biggest purchasers of semiconductors. Continuing access to that market is crucial to the fortunes of chipmakers such as Intel Corp., Qualcomm Inc. and Broadcom Inc. who sent their chief executives to meet with Trump in July.

Companies such as Xilinx Inc. and Micron Technology Inc. have publicly said they’ve applied for licenses and called on the U.S. to allow them to resume doing business with Huawei. They argue that many of their products are easily obtainable from their overseas rivals, making a ban ineffective and also harmful to the industry that the trade dispute with China is supposed to be helping.

Some U.S.-based makers of electronic components have already reported earnings and given forecasts that show the negative effects of the trade dispute.

nothing in reality , because this "hold off" is not a problem for Huawei but for US business ,and it is not a "news", it is known since the ban of Huawei .. and as soon as they will authorize US companies to do business with Huawei , stocks will jump , dollar will go down , that's what Trump wants , cheap dollar is good for business , they have no other choice , except if they want to loose billions of dollars from their biggest customer and that the last thing Trump wants , so that's why i said "let's be serious"...

In the meanwhile, every trader and his dog have their eyes off the ball on such off the ball movements as the Donald doing his job (i.e. the way he interprets it). Hardly any talk of strategy, implications and or whatever traders get up to, to find a way to profit from this (if in fact there are expected price effects). Of course a counter argument is usually the one that says traders need to form opinions to trade at all and this is all part of that process. But you cannot trade an opinion (because that is what it is, just an opinion which means nothing to anyone except you insofar as the market is concerned), you can only trade the immediate market direction per interval and for the estimated range. So with most eyes off the ball, is it any wonder that at the end of the day 95% of us are most likely to return negative trades? Common guys let the Donald do his job and you do yours - let us trade or talk trade and ignore factors exogenous to market outcomes. Never forget that the market is nonlinear because no single factor (or opinion) prevails to direct price over any interval at all - even intervals less than a millisecond. That is not to say we cannot have fun with irrelevancies such as what Trump says and does or indeed, what any other says and does, just keep in mind that focus on such leads you nowhere (the RSI for instance, and as near useless as it is for telling the future orbit of price, probably does a better job at that).

I believe we will soon see emerge is a Chinese list of "Reliable Suppliers". And just as Mr Trump has chosen who US companies may or may not do business with, I fully expect similar discrimination to be applied by Chinese on US Tech companies. There are clear capability asymmetries in particular sectors in the global tech components market, which broadly favour the US. But if that becomes a chokepoint for Chinese tech I would expect a current 3 year gap for critical capabilities to be closed within 5 years.

The US case against Huawei, so we don't forget, are 1) unsubstantiated national security concerns, and
2) alleged breaches of unilaterally designated US sanctions.?
Is that correct?
