Lagarde was nominated to succeed Mario Draghi as president of the ECB when his eight-year term ends on Oct. 31. That view may be discriminatory certainly against older persons in (or ready to serve in) public life (and would you believe it? Hands on Experience). The fact that she has been around sometime now will certainly have its merits (and of course some downside). But if the process is fair then all things considered she still made the grade with assessors (some of who no doubt may feel same as you).
