On the sidelines of the Group of 20 summit in Osaka, Japan, the two leaders held a highly anticipated meeting, which Chinese media outlets reported ultimately took about 80 minutes. Speaking after the bilateral, Trump said it had gone as well as it could have, and that negotiations with China would continue. “We are back on track,” the president said. From the article "On the subject of Huawei, the Chinese telecommunications behemoth that Washington has described as a security risk to the U.S. and allies, Trump suggested he will be reversing his government’s decision to ban American companies from selling products to the tech giant. Still, Trump said the issue of Huawei will be resolved only at the conclusion of the negotiations."

Despite the known risk to American businesses intellectual property the same businesses are pleading with Trump to leave Huawei alone. If Trump agrees to this the S&P will go up. (S&P did jump up 17 points in the last half hour of the Equities markets on Friday)

Chinese government knows this and has demanded that Trump drop his ban on Hauwei as as a condition for trade deals. China also wants the US government to drop charges against Hauwei's chief financial officer.

USDCHF has been falling due to bearish USD sentiment.
Swiss frank is a safe haven as JPY is. Now that there’s relief on the pressured global economy (se G20 outcome) CHF and JPY may be exposed to a sell off. This will see the two safe haven currencies, as well as gold, falling some pips.

How much will they fall?!?! Let’s see next week.

Spend some hours on the weekend to study your charts, place your key levels and setup your trading plan. This can turn out to be easy profits if you are well prepared for the moves.
Start with 1000$. Increase by 3% every day. After one year 2 213 314$

I dont believe AUD is going up next week, this new just confirms to me its gonna reverse and go down. The last 2 week climb will be broken and AU will make new low. The climb was coming just to see some news like this.. now its taking too long, traders wanted to see some results on friday, no results, just talks around that its not gonna be like this or that, but no sign of how it should look like... the talks continue. The two will have a dinner together and then leave from table just to say its time for the decision... the expected was not reached - therefore, closing positions is coming. AUD is prepairing to lower their interest rates next week which means another closing of positions and entering new ones on the short side. In the end, AU should be interesting for us, traders, as short oportunity next week.

People are stressed about AUD and NZD going up too much...but thats only on the smaller charts...look at monthly. If both kept going up for months, it would make sense, because on monthly they only bottomed out.

Well, about gold, trading using volumes and "tape reading", key levels to short gold are at 1421 (appeared on thursday), 1412 (appeared on friday), and 1409 (appeared late on friday), key levels to buy 1404 (goes from wednesday), so we can see falling to this level so far! then market will show new levels to operate with! Sorry guys I forgot my old account data - so putting words here as a quest!

So many traders trying to pick bottoms, I'm not saying it won't happen but why you'd want to buy UJ at the minute I don't know, from a technical perspective we are at a key structure level, we have rejection from a 20 ema if you use them, were rejecting 61.8 fib ratio there's also a major wick which needs to be filled and majority of net positions are long not to mention the daily downtrend trend line, the only possible way to make money is to sell if there so many net long postions. Stick with the trend until the end you can see raw price movement and when price changes to a uptrend and right now on the higher TF ie daily still in a downtrend, I wouldn't be surprised if UJ did not move next week and just trapped traders for the NFP to then come out positive yet a sell off to occur to get rid of the longs and try and wick fill from there people change there bias to short yet banks start to look long. Game of cat and mouse.

USD/Chf ended week with a green doji on weekly at a major support level, may find some support at this level next week.
Jun 25th showed first leg up of a expected 6-stepped formation to the upside.

My only read on what is going on is that G20 countries have pressing need to extend the Credit cycle as no one wants it stopped. This is congruent with what CB's have been up to with all their manipulations since advent of GFC. Their is no policy change anywhere when it comes to Debt created GDP as only game in town.
It will take a major event possibly even a Natural event to alter that outcome.
Rubber stamping Bank stress tests by CB's and political discussion between major country Leaders all boils down to ways of extending credit expansion so that artificial demand gets created.
Neither Trump or Xi is going to stop playing the music.

I do not see changes, I am surprised by that of Mnuchin about 90% a few days ago, what happened to Mnuchin? I'm also surprised about the purchases of agricultural products, will it be true or do we expect the same response that Mexico gave about it, too?

Mnuchin supplied Powell as candidate so Mnuchin currently resides in the Doggy House.

IMHO.. Mr Trumps Huawei move is encouraging and sensible. Its pretty clear that sorting this out was a Chinese red line. And results from major behind-the-scenes pressure from US and Global tech, and US Allies, as UIC of Huawei entity naming to US and global supply chains has emerged.
The rest is kicking the can... and giving Mr Trump wriggle room to backtrack on his aggressive stance.
IOHO interest in resolving this potential Trade war has been asymmetrically and probably correctly characterised in US favour on economic terms. However when viewed politically, the asymmetry is reversed.
The stakes for US administration, are much more personally politically-threatening (Election in 2020) than for the Chinese, and the Xi administration.
ie.. The Xi administration grip on China is hugely more secure and powerful than Mr Trumps on America and significantly Chinese control over internal media perceptions for blame are much greater than Mr Trump can possibly exercise on American public opinion and sentiment.
This more than offsets any short term pain, Chinese economy may be threatened with and suggests that chinese hand may be much more significant that most purely economic analysis currently reflects.
Consequently Mr Trumps need to "Pull a Rabbit out of the Hat" quickly is much greater than Xis.

On the immediate trade side.. the insecurity of the current situation is contributing to Gold and crypto pricing.
Evidence of significant sovereign purchases since start of year by Russia & China are further underpinning demand. There is a case for a new longer term rally in Gold, but investing in that curve will as always be subject to technical judgement, as well as reacting to further developments in this evolving trade crisis.
Just a Thought.

The line graph on the weekly chart shows clearly that the USD failed to touch the top resistance line and came back with a string of red candles.

Many here are still thinking that bankers (Market makers) can make decision just on the words of the leaders.

MM is likely to go in direction of weaker USD since interest rate is set to either hold or reduce medium term (3-6months)

So my projection is USD to reach 100 in next month and eventually settling there at end of year.

In a similar way to what happened in Dec 2018

Market makers are realist

they have to wait for certain kind of info to justify preventing the market from going in a straight line (must go up and down) to keep money moving. So Gold must keep moving to its target of about 1500 until the impact of what these leaders talk about kicks in.

“We’re holding on tariffs, and they’re going to buy farm product,”

At first glance, it's a promising talk from the president of the United States, but when we look more closely at it, we see that the unresolved disagreement.

In fact, the two countries have agreed not to hurt more than the other, albeit temporarily.

Undoubtedly, tensions and the discussion of business negotiations, like the talk of BREXIT, require a lot of time.

Maybe solved and maybe not.

The manipulation of the currency, which is the main source of tensions, remains unresolved and it will be very difficult to solve.

I do not think the market will react positively, and if it shows, it's temporary.

Guys guys guys!
What goes up must come down and what goes down must come up.
This is how traders make bucks.
Everything is levels and price action.
Yes fundamentals and breaking news move the market, but in the end of the day the movements respect certain levels.

Follow price action and respect levels and you will not fail.

Why are we calling currency manipulation when a country with a population over 1billion has to take more of the controls compared to others?

No one should expect that an identical measure would be adopted by a different culture and control needs compared with Westerners

The same economic theories say: Plan Your Trade and Trade Your Plan. This involves your technical analysis, regular fundamentals and regularly released economic data and definitely not shocks.
Now answer my question... Can you plan shocks?

If you can then I wish you could tell us how you do that.

The spikes, called by yourself “shocks”, are just noise in the big timeframe picture.

depends on accessing to information. you can anticipate some shocks if you have access to enough information ( in short time ) and the other hands, some of shocks are naturally unpredictable. anyway, you can't definitely say " i just consider technical and fundamental is not important " . considering technical and fundamental has the same importance.

A couple of articles of interest as to how long this new possible rally might live.

US-China Trade - Ceasefire a reality but no quick fixes to reach a deal
- Danske Bank Research

https://research.danskebank.com/rese...4b9ff7967e8/EN

As widely expected, the Xi-Trump meeting ended with a ceasefire in the trade war. The export ban on Huawei was also lifted, at least partially.

The ceasefire is good news in the sense that it confirms that both sides want to make a trade deal. President Trump's comments afterwards suggest he sees a trade deal as a key component of his election campaign.

However, large obstacles remain to reach a deal that satisfies both sides and we still expect a rocky path ahead.

We continue to look for high volatility in equity markets in the short term and do not see the ceasefire as a game changer for FX markets.

Ceasefire no game changer for FX markets

The ceasefire agreement is not a game changer for FX and commodity markets in our view. The USD should stay broadly unchanged. The lower probability of new US tariffs on China is negative for the USD, but a mitigating factor is that the odds the Fed will cut by 50bp in July will likely go down, which would be USD-positive. Commodity prices should stay well supported by the improved outlook for a trade deal. That in turn should benefit commodity currencies, the AUD, NZD, CAD and NOK. Finally, we could see this change in tone in the trade talks weigh a bit on theJPY

FX Flows Fueled By G20 Optimism
By Kathy Lien Forex Jun 28, 2019 04:40PM ET

https://www.investing.com/analysis/f...mism-200435757

We expect President Trump and President Xi to agree to restart trade talks but given Trump’s general unpredictability, even if tariffs are delayed, they remain an ongoing threat to Chinese and global growth. However a trade truce is not the same as a trade deal and the chance of a full fledged trade agreement between the U.S. and China is slim. So unless we are wrong and Trump announces a reduction or elimination of tariffs over the weekend, the corresponding rally in the U.S. dollar and improvement in risk appetite will be short-lived. USD/JPY, AUD/USD and other major currencies could receive a lift from a delay in tariffs but the outlook remains unchanged because delaying additional tariffs is not the same as lowering or removing them.

Based on these and what I see in charts is that...AUD/XXX, NZD/XXX, XXX/JPY will go up...then down...then further up again....

All subject to change as charts evolve.

Will likely go above 109.100 before going back down.

There are 2 things to consider

1)USD is going bearish just merely on the global economy alone with central bank hold to cut expectation.
2)With this JPY /CHF/Gold become the safe haven with JPY due for strenthening on average in AUG anyway

Gap happens when there are signifcant events outside regular market hours. Since institutions and market makers still trade outside regular hours (they are priviledged).

Finally. Someone with sense and someone that can read a chart. The current EUR/USD trend is clearly subdividing into a strong 3rd wave higher just based on technicals. This means that we are either going to get more bad economic data or the dollar is simply going to continue to sell off just like the bond market is.
