This happens when you have low liquidity....said it at least 3 times in my thread. Don't trade last week of Dec first week of Jan.

Also...now we're seeing some real effects of the trade war poking through....APPLE will lead the stocks for another red leg....also mentioned last week.

Hello everyone! A Happy New Year ... and what a start, huh? Not if you noticed, but the JPY was appreciating against all currencies, especially in the EURJPY since the opening of the London session on January 2, 2019. This sudden appreciation of the JPY against the USD in a matter of minutes, and without any mention in the big media about that fall ... 3.4% catches the eye ... it seemed strange to me ... I do not think it's a mere black swan. These days I watched a video on youtube, in which the person was talking about the enigmatic cover of The Economist magazine 2019. In it, among other strange drawings, has the caricature of Donald Trump on one side and Vladimir Putin on the other, half a panda bear looking at Donald Trump. The person explained that the panda bear represents China, who is keeping an eye on Trump. But what struck me most was the fact that in the magazine's editorial says that in the middle of the year 2019, the US economy will collapse ... I do not know with what basis the editorial of the magazine used to state that, but tell the person that I was watching on youtube that was written that there. I do not have this magazine, but whoever has it and wants to check if it is actually written there ... but if this is indeed true, would the explanation for what happened today would not be the banks warning of this? I think this news from Apple was just a smokescreen ... what do you guys think?

Sold off all stocks and went long yen in Dec 2017 to prepare.

Didn't quite catch the top but it certainly proved profitable now doesn't it?

At least cryptos are on an exchange. This is caused by forex banks (JP Morgan, Goldman, etc) pulling their quotes then intentionally slamming an order down in Asia. It's pure manipulation.

They did the same thing to the pound in 2016, and the low also coincided with Soro's 1.20 profit target.

I learnt the hard way during CHF crash and again GBP.... I decided to stick to only and only one rule:- USE MONEY MANAGEMENT- always risk only 1% of your equity for any trade. this saved me yesterday even though i lost a considerable number of trades but i'm still here trading without any stress.

Using 1% of your equity implies keeping 100% of your funds in one broker. It's far better to separate your funds into multiple brokers to spread the risk and make sure your directional trades are separated.

Like the poster above if you forget to put a stop loss, or the broker simply didn't honour your stoploss you can lose everything if you keep all your funds in one basket.

Don't forget they can quote absurd out of bounds prices like some of the pics above which would bomb your account even though you thought you were only risking "1%".

Of course not. If your broker filled your trades with out of bounds prices like the pics from above, it can easily set your account to negative. In which case they can just take money from your other accounts without you having any say in it. It'll defeat the purpose of segregating your accounts.

It's best to keep the amount of money with forex brokers as low as possible to minimise the risk. Only keep enough for your day-to-day trading. Withdraw your winnings if any, replenish your losses with deposits if any. You don't get any interest anyway.

Personally I only keep enough for about 5 trades' worth of losses in my accounts (this is enough for my strategy which is mostly daily timeframe.) Another benefit of having multiple broker accounts is that you can easily compare feeds from different sources, which allows you to quickly identify if your broker is stop hunting you with artificial spikes. You can also compare swap rates to place trade on brokers which give the best rates, or compare fills or fill times, or any other criteria.

I call this the banks signalling their positions for next target, i.e. fall to US 0.68xx. Either by accidentally leaving the algos running with their long term target of sell to 68 over a low liquidity time period, or a secret way to tell the cartel the move without being caught for market manipulation, conveniently using low liquidity and fat finger accident sort of stuff.
