Yes. You said it perfectly - - DJT keeps recovering in my mind though sometimes I look askance at what he says I can always kind of tell where he is coming from and I trust it. He does tariffs because he wants to help people in the US; he has the gift from God to 'pull off' just like this victory and doesn't use his gift for self-gain entirely-- he is not a cynical person.

Bit o' game theory.

If the talks work out, sanctions are dropped, both Trump and Kim claim victory. Problem is both are sociopaths and want to injure their opponent.

If the talks fail. Status quo remains, Kim claims victory over Imperialist lies and deceit, Trump talks a lot and has nothing to show for it.

The most likely scenario, nothing happens, Kim buys time to keep working on nukes, tries to make Trump look like a fool to China. Then China eases some sanctions.

For Kim it is all upside with no risk.

Okay, me and I'llBeBack had a couple comments hidden. Can anyone explain WHY? I mean they were at least partly on-topic and relevant (regarding how the US has dealt with the regime of NK in the past), and weren't insulting to anyone here at FF. Yes, you could say they were insulting to Obama, but PLEASE don't tell me it's now off-limits to make negative comments about major public figures. (It's done to Trump constantly, with nothing ever being "hidden" as far as I know)

I'm the only one who sees things this way? Please follow me:

Firstly, few weeks ago Putin said he would retaliate anyone who dared attacking Russia or any of their allies and last week he put his massive cock on the table showing their newest invincible nuclear arsenal.

Secondly, Immediately after that, Putin's protected boy Kim Jong Un agrees on denuclearizing and invites Trump to meet up.

Finally, Trump quickly accepts the invitation with no hesitation and says Kim is a cute boy.

In my opinion, butt holes are being held tight to not shit the pants on. Bigger penis always wins.

Stall tactics?
So his regime can be starved of even more cash?
Unless Kim can twist his arm to lift sanctions while they negotiate, where's the upside?
Sure he can and poss/prob will lie about sticking to his side of whatever deal is reached, but then he'll pay an even heavier price and lose even more credibility with his few friends.

So where is it that they will meet, China, Russia. The only reason North Korea is willing to stop tests, is that they are finished testing and are now producing as fast as they can. With their limited supplies do to sanctions. Do you really believe that after all these years they had a little fun at the Olympics and decided that all their policies were wrong and are now willing to embrace democracy feed the people and open a few MacDonald's.

I don't know where they will meet, we can only speculate.
What I do know is it makes Trump look like he has achieved the near impossible (a meeting with Kim to denuclearise),through his hardline sanction policy and gamble with China. He has risked quite a lot putting himself between Kim and China, putting pressure on China etc. All the while talking tough on trade also.

Obamas' policy of giving NK "time" to denuclearise themselves was clearly an utter disaster and will not be revisited.

Any backflip on Kims part through production and Trump will have an open door to go in even tougher and literally starve the regime out, and will have support.

A maccas in NK? Not sure on that, but you managed to conveniently twist my point and put words in my mouth. Kudos to you...

Sorry only meant to be my words and observations. I'm sorry but I don't believe North Korea is suffering worse than before after only a few months of extra sanctions. They won't agree to any of the US demands and will quietly stockpile their weapons. They learned by the Iraq war that if they give up their weapons there a sitting duck.

Or, the White House knows the game Kim is playing and will give him no room to breath until they see something similar to Saddams' 2 stage response to the unexpected intensity of UN pressure.
Think about it, if you can outline Kims thinking and strategy here on FF on your own, is the Whitehouse in the dark?

I understand, but "Do you really believe...etc", sound like the questioning of a thought process I never expressed.
I agree they are a sitting duck if they give up their weapons, but I doubt the US would repeat the type of farce such as the "continued existence of WMD" as an excuse for war with NK. No one of strategic importance gave enough of a toss about Irag to challenge the US with force.
NK is a different issue. US would have everything to lose by engaging NK in an unsanctioned, illegitimate war.

Just my opinion of course, but I think we are looking at apples and oranges.

I think there's a lot of reasons. One that rarely gets mentioned comes from inside NK itself... the upper-level military. I don't think most of them are as brainwashed as the average NK citizen is, and so they don't see Kim as some kind of untouchable messiah. And, importantly, I don't think they want to get themselves blown up by the U.S. or anyone else. I think they understand that Kim can easily bring destruction on the whole lot of them, and so they have pressured Kim to "do the right thing". In other words, we're lucky that (IMO) Kim's top generals aren't as crazy as he is.

I think we both seem to understand what's at stake. My problem is with headlines like this that make people think all is well and relax we have it all under control. I've laid out the scenario that I believe will happen. Wish it could be better. I don't think they will meet, at least not until North Korea is in an even stronger position. The sanctions will help eventually, maybe a couple years, but this is a country that's been on its own for a long time and still managed to develop nuclear weapons.

Wow... I just noticed my "comments" number. It says 150. Wonder how exactly they calculate that, because that's not even close (not if you count all the comments I've made in all parts of FF). Maybe it's just referring to comments on news stories? Even so, it still seems really low. WHO'S STEALING MY COMMENTS?

I think Kim really only has two main ambitions: To stay in power AND to be "loved" by his people. If we can figure out what it takes to make him feel comfortable where those two issues are concerned, we may actually get somewhere.

Well yeah, that's one of the things anti-Trump people like to point out: That Trump has a huge ego and wants everyone to say how great he is. And that's not altogether wrong. But you know what? That could wind up being a GOOD thing. Because let's say Trump wants to be "successful", even hoping that one day the history books will list him as one of the greatest presidents. Can we agree that he would very much want that? Well, what's he gonna have to do to achieve that? If he winds up being a horrible president, that'll be duly noted in history. Would Trump like that? NOOO!!! So I think we can be pretty certain that he will do whatever he thinks is necessary to be declared a "great and successful" president. But will he succeed?.... stay tuned.

I know you are right he wants to be a good president. I think a good president has to be strong and do what they believe is right even if it hurts their popularity. For the good of the country and not groups they feel they need to please. Do what's right or do nothing at all. That's my view, and I would vote for him for a second term. Except I'm Canadian and proud of it. Donald Trump needs to stop campaigning he is already president. Bring a divided country together that would be a legacy.

Good question; I too want to know how long until D-day for my Jpy longs. I'd like to think this won't really increase the risk appetite but the market loves to do stupid shit. Fresh blood has been spilt, MM's will undoubtedly smell it and attempt a retracement.

I have a prediction.

The meeting will not happen at all. Trump will find an excuse to backpedal.

Okay, I love it... "fresh out of the liberal womb" I guess that kinda describes me. But no, I'm no longer much surprised but anything some of my former "friends" and colleagues do/say, but I still gotta shake my head. Even though I still have some views that would be considered to the left, or liberal, I absolutely do NOT want to be lumped in with "the left" or "liberals" in general. At least not after what has been going on the past several years. Anyway, for me, I suppose it's a case of "better late than never"... because it's not a simple thing to bring someone back from the brink after not years, but DECADES of brainwashing.

Holy... WTF. Some twit got so offended that I said 'liberal womb' that they reported the comment for a CoC breach. Now THAT is surprising.

The fact that they don't know how to trade isn't.😂

Apparently someone felt like their safe-space was violated. I'll be sure in the future not to let the bad words get near their womb. I wonder if it was a feminist that believes she monopolized all references to biological anatomy.😕

How DARE I !
