  • Senate passes a budget, moving the GOP closer to tax reform

    From cnbc.com

•The Senate passes a budget resolution, a key step on the way to tax reform. •It still needs to reconcile its budget proposal with a different one passed by the House. •Once Congress approves a budget, it will start writing a tax bill that Republicans hope to pass this year. Senate Republicans approved a budget measure Thursday, taking a crucial step toward their goal of passing a tax plan this year. The budget resolution could also pave the way for opening up the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska to oil exploration by ensuring that drilling legislation can pass with only Republican votes. The Senate voted 51 to 49 to approve the blueprint. Despite having full control of the government, Republicans have so far been unable to produce a marquee legislative achievement in the first year of Mr. Trump’s presidency, ... (full story)

A part of it is priced in... plus you know, the actual budget plan may not pass, similar to everything they tried to pass.

But it should give the USD some strength when they make incremental moves to pass it.

Personally i think the EUR is well placed vs the USD but that means medium term.... short term, surprises happen.

Once they realize that tax reform isn't going to muster enough votes, the USD will jump over a cliff to unfathomable depths.
