    It's the case that's been dubbed "Grand Theft Avocado": Three Californian men have been charged with stealing almost $400,000 worth of avocados in an attempt to cash in on their popularity. Carlos Chavez, 28, Rahim Leblanc, 30, and Joseph Valenzuela, 38, pulled off the Oceans 11-style heist through their employer Mission Produce. Mission Produce had traditionally sold boxes of avocados to customers for $50 each direct from the factory floor - but a change in policy meant that they would now deliver the pallets full of the green fruit direct to the customers themselves. Without reading the story, this was a "HUH?" moment. At about 3/4 lb apiece, 1 dollar a piece. That's about 300,00 pounds of avocados. That is a lot of produce to try and sell before it goes bad. After reading the story, it makes sense...
