  • Thousands say 'No' to Brexit in colorful protest

    From cnn.com

They simply won't take "Brexit" for an answer. Tens of thousands of protesters angered by Britain's historic vote last week to leave the European Union marched down London's up-market Park Lane Saturday, many of them hoping that divorce from the bloc will never actually happen. They say they've been cheated by a campaign deceit and false promises, chanting "We are the 48%, no more lies, no more hate." The Leave vote won 52% of the vote, with the remain side at 48%. Organizers said around 50,000 people had joined the march by midday, and while the protest attracted all walks of life, millennials appeared to make up ... (full story)

Be advise that there won't be second referendum or reverse in decision. You should learn to remain independent . All the angry birds might be Eu black listed living in UK illegally.

I am wondering where is those FF member that arguing fiercely and fully support leaving is a very good choice for Britain now? "Leave" campaign never lie, they can easily gain worldwide trade if leaving EU. Where those people go?

Remember, Perfect English does not mean you are smart to make choice, donkey.

Britain doesn't want to be just a state of EU superstate. In which a country is reduced just to a state.

Brexit brings back Britain to be a country.

Afterall, Brexit will gives EU to be free on their own. Freedom is the utmost important thing in the world. No one can live without freedom.

They can protest all the like, BUT refusing to accept the majority vote in a democratic election is effectively saying "No. We Don't Want Freedon. We Don't Want Democracy. We Do Not Respect the Will of the Majority."

If there is one thing worth fighting for it is freedom. Without it we are nothing. These people are undermining that in the worst possible way. They call everyone who voted out names like Racist, Bigot, Moron to name but a few. Some quite possibly might be some or all of these just as others on the remain side undoubtedly fit some or all of those charges to judge from their behaviour.

It is actually quite telling that economists are starting to re-address the whole issue and coming to conclusions that actually UK would likely after a period of adjustment do fine or perhaps even better after leaving. Some even said so before, but they were eclipsed by the utter scaremongery and terminological inexactitudes emanating from the political Elite and those in their pockets.

It is time everyone accepted the outcome just as would be expected were it the other way, and started pulling together to make this country better. If all those people who are throwing stones at those of us who chose to protect our democracy for generations to come are sooo bloody clever then perhaps they might better employ their efforts to helping create a better future for all rather than just the privaleged few.

Sadly i disagree a lot
1. Is that referendum binding? All MPs must vote
2. Is a simple majority of 51.9% enough for generations-changing decision?? What if your neighbours, say total of 20, vote to kick you out of your house? Is 11 votes enough to boot you???
3. The UK is a political mess, and on several levels (i won't go in details on obvious)
4. What privileged few? 1% of UK are millionaires... The rest won't do so great
Beware of robber banks (RB), bad advisors.

1) To 'overrule' it would be to put the final nail in the coffin of democracy, and permanently hand over our sovereignty to unelected oligarchs in Brussels.

2) Given the stance you are taking, had 51.9% voted remain, you would expect that to be upheld in accordance with it being the democratic decision of the majority. The rest of your analogy is not what we're talking about here.

3) UK is a political mess largely due to the utter ineptitude of the political classes and not the electorate that voted out.

4) Oh! Come on. There is a massive divide in this country and it isn't just about millionaires. If there wasn't and so many people weren't hurting so badly the status quo would most likely have been upheld.

The remain camp has nothing to hold Britain from moving out of EU. I watched this movie about Brexit. Now I understand what it's like being inside EU. The comments there are overwhelming.

Britain is a truly democratic country and the result of the vote is final, no one actually denies that. But what is really causing people to reject the result is the exposure of the lies and false promises concocted by the Leave camp and used to sway the "don't know" voters.

“The very word "secrecy" is repugnant in a free and open society; and we are as a people inherently and historically opposed to secret societies, to secret oaths and to secret proceedings...Our way of life is under attack. Those who make themselves our enemy are advancing around the globe...no war ever posed a greater threat to our security. If you are awaiting a finding of "clear and present danger," then I can only say that the danger has never been more clear and its presence has never been more imminent...For we are opposed around the world by a monolithic and ruthless conspiracy that relies primarily on covert means for expanding its sphere of influence–on infiltration instead of invasion, on subversion instead of elections, on intimidation instead of free choice, on guerrillas by night instead of armies by day. It is a system which has conscripted vast human and material resources into the building of a tightly knit, highly efficient machine that combines military, diplomatic, intelligence, economic, scientific and political operations. Its preparations are concealed, not published. Its mistakes are buried, not headlined. Its dissenters are silenced, not praised. No expenditure is questioned, no rumor is printed, no secret is revealed.”

How can they say 'no' when the country voted 'yes' for out. Don't they understand democracy?

It's like your team loses a match so you demand a replay until you get the right result!

Mostly kids I suspect, who didn't see the start of the EU and actually think it's a good idea. If they'd have remembered an EU free country, they wouldn't be complaining!

So they protested, so what? There was a vote, their side lost. Period, end of story . Unless they prove the vote was undemocratic, they have nothing. They can have their stupid-ass little marches till kingdom come and nothing will change.

Seeing how the remain side is protesting and saying they will not leave the EU, reminds me of African politics whereby the loser always mobilizes his/her followers to protest the decision and demand another vote count, or election, and even if the outcome is the same, demand another one over and over until the result is in their favour. If UK does not exit the EU as they have voted out, then they together with US and EU should from there on shut the hell up on any issue regarding democracy and the will of the people (majority) with regards to other countries in the world.

The referendum is just a game. The remain side will say the voters are ignorant and can't make the right decision. Well, if everybody is ignorant and can't make the right decision, what the hell is referendum for?

Let the blinds leads the blinds. And everybody goes bust.

"We sat in the wrong as all the other seats were occupied".

There are many justifications for the ongoing protests regarding brexit.

I said the same on another thread here on FF.
Many of the arguments on which the brexit campaign was based proved exaggerated immediately after the vote.
Many "will certainly do" and "will change everything", pronounced by politicians, quickly turned into "maybe we can do" and "something will change" or, worse, "I was misunderstood."
Farage himself admitted in a public interview that "it was a mistake" when he was asked to deepen one of the key topics of his brexit campaign.
Several people who had voted for exit have stated that, if they were to vote again, they would vote for the "bremain".

Much use of the word democracy in these posts, that is a concept the current EU does not comprehend unless of course it is their kind of democracy which means they continue in dictatorial power. These young protesters are excersising their democratic right to protest as enshrined in British law not European law. I am all in favour of excersing your rights, however these young people have been brain washed by a pro European education system a system where the word British is a dirty word, where a patriot to his/her country is branded a racist a system that has perversely set young against old by accusing the old of stealing the future of the young.

The old did not steal their future they gave them a future by fighting two world wars to defend that very democracy they excersise when marching through London.

Look at Greece their people literally beaten into submission by the EU storm troopers, now they are being starved as a punishment. Why? Because the EU got it wrong big time.

So young people ask yourself is this what you want for your country?

You make some pretty good points there! When you frame in a way where you can put visuals to what is artfully articulated, it becomes a powerful anecdote to the angst that the youth is expressing.

Freedom is the utmost important thing in the world. No one can live without freedom.

Hmmm ??

As a dual citizen of the UK and another country not long independent of the UK I was brought into politics on cries of "better to die on our feet than live on our knees" and other such calls.

However, ask any parent whose children are hungry because the economy doesn't work whether or not freedom is the most important thing and you are likely to get at best a quizzical look and perhaps even worse.

For a current running theme, check out Venezuela.

I am not comparing the UK economy to aforementioned country, I am however arguing that sometimes subjugating an element of political freedom to more prosaic and real world needs like jobs, housing, economic growth, common climate change standards etc is an acceptable compromise.

I would think. This European thing is contagious.

First. They call their currency Euro. Like short of European. Like if Euro is used, anybody becomes European.

Nobody calls their currency by the name of their country.

US calls their currency Dollar. Not Unito Stato.

British calls their currency Pounds. Not Brito.

Italian calls their currency Lira. Not Italio.

So, why does European call their currency Euro?

Hmm, not only is Branson looking like a Garden Nome everyday of aging, this guy and his open support for "REMAIN" should be made an example of, in how disingenuous his and people like him (elitist 1% club) rhetoric really is. I guess Branson really underestimates the commoner and views them as being nothing more than half witted imbeciles. Sigh!
