  • UK services growth weakest in over three years in April

    From markiteconomics.com

    UK service sector growth weakened in April, according to the latest PMI® survey data from Markit and CIPS. The rate of expansion slowed for the third time in the past five months, to the weakest since February 2013. Im guessing the market moved up on the GBPUSD as the figure was still over 50, there should still be a bearish move on though... otherwise Goldfinger might be right, and it may have been priced in already.
There may be an unwillingness to buy into the USD pre the NFP tomorrow.
Also as a rule I look for a the pull back before entering the market.

i think it was priced in considering that the GBPUSD dropped ~50 pips in the 2 hours before the news release

how did u indicate spanish 10 yr bond cheaper than uk?

so based on below- the bid to cover for uk is so much lesser than the spanish bonds and also the yield is higher than the spanish bonds, hence spanish bond is cheaper?

I was thinking after this bond issue data out, why GBP dropped so much..is that what u saying this might be the reason? thaNKS!

Auction results are reported in an 'X.XX|X.X' format - the first number is the average interest rate of the bonds sold, and the second number is the bid-to-cover ratio (number of bids made per bid accepted). Source does not give an exact release time - this event will be listed as 'Tentative' until the data is released;
Why Traders
CareYields are set by bond market investors, and therefore they can be used to decipher investors' outlook on future interest rates. The bid-to-cover ratio represents bond market liquidity and demand, which can be used to gauge investor confidence;
Also CalledGilt Auction, Treasury Auction;

Go to the FF home page, look at today's data announcements.

8:50am (GMT) Spanish 10yr bond @ 1.59% with 4.3 times over-subscribed
9:33am (GMT) UK 10yr bond @ 1.66% and only 1.8 times over-subscribed.

To me this means investors prefer Spanish 10yr bonds over UK 10yr bonds.
That percentage is what the governments have to pay to place their bonds.
