  • Yellen: Positive about progress in ending 'too big to fail'

    From cnbc.com

Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen on Thursday touted the strength of the United States economy, rebuffing some political rhetoric suggesting a bubble is ready to burst. "I certainly wouldn't describe this as a bubble economy," Yellen said, noting a "healing" labor market and a 5 percent headline unemployment number. Yellen appeared on a panel with former Fed Chairs Ben Bernanke, Paul Volcker and Alan Greenspan at the International House in New York. The U.S. central bank heads discussed the U.S. economy and monetary policy around the globe. Yellen's comments come amid Republican presidential contender Donald ... (full story)

Oh well, Ben Bernanke and Alan Greenspan never get things wrong and always tell the truth so it must be all ok and with Yellen in the office all's right with the world.

Well that's good news...Now will someone tell me why after Dec 3 the Forex market HAS DRIED UP. It used to be 5 pips or more between grid lines. Now 1 to 1 1/12 is the norm. However spreads are high. BUT we have Yellen and Bernanke to trust to give reports. I've watched the economy for years both in and out of the toilet. You will find few stories negative. Most articles in USA are nothing more than wishful thinking. I am also surprised that Forex Factory, with their Enquirer reporting, hasn't touched the Panama papers. I guess that out of over 11 million papers not one American used the off shore accounts. The only "positive" is that Americans can still withdraw funds from US banks. Better hurry. Oh, after Dec 3 the dollar became just a piece of paper.

The Feds dual mandate is full employment and price stability.

Of course they won't admit to seeing a bubble despite this gloriously fat, round QE infused market looking like the Hindenburg.

That would be admitting to not doing your job....

As for too bigs to fail...
After the post crises rescues and take overs, the too bigs just got bigger....
And just how stressful were the stress tests?
From what I heard, they were akin to a joke, but we can't expect the feds to be too hard on their buddies right...
Come with me if you want to live....

Yellen has not yet given any direction to the movement of prices in any particular way.
Market is still moving between range.
When the going gets tough , the tough get going

If the economy is doing so well, why didn't they raise rates in March? Why won't they raise them this month, or in June? Because they know that it's weak. The very fact that they are not, and will not raise rates despite the previously touted 4 rate hikes this year, undermines the lies they are feeding the US public about the strength of the economy. This is all going to end very badly for the Fed!

Not only for the FED, for US Dollar and America in generally. It's been a long time since they have started this artificial "wealth effect" with those QE's.
Now it's coming back to byte them in the ass.

Yep cat.... think you are pretty much bang on the nail there.

fxtradespot.... I feel (unfortunately) that when the fall does occur; that it will be felt further afield than just the US continent. Like the GFC of several years past, it will be once again Global...
In the tempest of a fast moving market; not everyone is happy.
