If China wants to deter those opportunistic Yuan speculators, it should just take Yuan off the market and make it a closed currency like before. Seriously so far with the currency floating against a basket of currencies is not really achieving anything besides making it vulnerable to those vultures who just want to make a quick buck on other countries' misery. When the Yuan was a closed currency, all the countries still traded with China. Everything is made in China, so nobody would dare to stop now.

George Soros did not break the BoE, he merely exploited an inevitable outcome.

Therefore neither will he 'break' the PBoC, he will simply assess the situation and take a position commensurate with the final outcome. The fact that his position will be a million times bigger than any we could take is just a fact of life.

Well the Chinese DID put in a condition for pseudo-floating the currency in that the currency is NOT subject to deliberate manipulation that seriously threatens the stability of its value and the Chinese government is entitled to invoke this clause if it sees that its currency is under deliberate attack. After all, the whole purpose of opening up the Yuan to the market is to facilitate international trading and not really to allow itself to be vulnerable to market playing so somebody can become instant billionaires by gambling.

I mean if you really look at what those Hedge Fund is doing by betting on the devaluation of the Yuan, it's really to make a quick buck at the expense of another economy's demise, nothing different from being a vulture. Is there any economic benefit of what they are doing? No, not really!

So those Hedge Fund better watch out! China is NOT the British. China doesn't give a shit! If it sees too many people jumping on the wagon trying to make some quick fortune by playing with its currency, it will NOT hesitate to take the Yuan off the market to how it was before. And at that time, the only people left holding the bag will be those Hedge Funds.

I see a disconnect between USD and XAU being played out right now and its either the major hedge funds is buying gold instead of usd to hedge against cny weakening OR its PRC thats is buying to allow for further weakening of their own currency. Why is there not much buying of Usd which is strangely consolidating in the face of all these uncertainties?
I suspect the commies have something up in their sleeve in strategizing to thwart any aggressive and predatory assault against their holdings. Hmm
