  • Some things to consider if Spain leaves the euro

    From mpettis.com

It might seem almost churlish to wonder what would happen if Spain were to leave the euro. The official European position is that the battle of the euro has been pretty much won, and anyone who argues otherwise will be accused of being a euro hater, an Anglo-Saxon or, even worse, a writer for the Financial Times. But there is more than one “battle” around the euro. While the battle of liquidity seems to have been won, the solvency and the unemployment battles (the latter of which is really a battle of unbalanced demand) have not even been addressed. Every sovereign debt crisis in modern history has been preceded ... (full story)

The EUR is a failed experiment. The dollar, a deliberately destroyed one.

As long as we're using fairy tales in regards to the EUR, I tend to think of Jack & Jill. Jack being the EUR and about to fall down and break his crown... ...

The Euro never go away. It is outrageous to think otherwise.
None Country will leave the Euro.
Political parties that are skeptical of the european union, have won more votes, but they will send their deputies to the Parliament, to live very well for 4 years.

Politicians are there to have a better life than in other jobs.

Well the pound has been around for centuries and so has the dollar. They both have weathered financial storms much much worse than the present. The Euro may have some structural problems but they are solvable.

The Euro zone has it's good and bad from the start and can be an advantage to smaller counties that join the Euro zone. The basic good it has there is strength in numbers. The bad part of it is you as the smaller country in the zone have to fall in with the decisions of the big dogs decisions in the Euro zone that can affect your country and in the end you don't have much say.

Well, they are in, thats all that counts. Besides: what would it be good for having a stronger currency? Will it help businesses in a largely export oriented economy? I don't think so. All I see is that it would make my holiday in spain or greece more cheaper and my italien suits of course. The euro did quite well so far and is strong enough.
