Circa 4 trillion extra govt debt created for 0.1% growth, it's the economics of the mad house. I think the article should be flipped to question 9 reasons why the USA economy is not as strong as the compliant MSM would have us believe.

Sure, the data is rather poor compared with the good times and Reeves put far to an optimistic spin on it. But a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. Our poor abused sodden creaky economy has lurched in more or less the right direction. Let's be patient.
Remember, as long as humans exist, there will be an economy. I tend to agree that the recent past has put our economic system through hell. But what could we have done otherwise? Let the banks fail? Yeah, that would have really boosted GDP. Most likely, the remedies that have been employed were the least of the evils available. Of course, we're in a fine mess now, but so is almost every other developed national economy.
Also remember we're a democracy ( well, a representative democracy ). That means we don't get the best government nor do we get the worst government, but some kind of muddling in between. We occasionally get pretty good leaders, but they are often hamstrung by the political process. For example, most presidential campaign promises are intended for sound bite effect. We hope that these platforms reflect the intentions of the candidate, yet if elected the political opposition will attempt to counter anything they dislike.
The solution will have to be growth in GDP. It's the only way to begin to backfill the hugeous hole we have dug.
