  • Gold below $1,200 needed for ‘new equilibrium’

    From cnbc.com

A drop in gold prices below $1,200 an ounce may precipitate a fresh round of production cuts in the mining sector aimed at re-balancing the market, strategists told CNBC. There are different methods by which gold mining companies are ranked. One is by their annual production. Another is by their cash cost per ounce, that is, how much money it costs them to mine the gold.

The little knowledge that I have tells me that for , all currency printed by any nation, there has to be a certain percentage of gold kept in reserve. The US have been printing money under the the name of QE with no gold in reserve. There has to come a time when US will have to stock a certain percentage of gold to make up for currency printed under QE. So the moment it falls real low , it will be immediately stocked by US in huge quantities. So my opinion , gold is real buy at any time at these levels and also much below. Money management is of prime importance while trading GOLD.

That's not a little knowledge it's zero. The USA came 'off' the gold standard in 1973.

Short history lesson...

Interesting observation. On the basis that 95%+ of traders fail perhaps the message is "up the time frames if you want to succeed as a retail trader". Trade less-earn more.

Fwiw after thousands of hours of experimentation over many years (a decade or more) I've only discovered and witnessed one highly reliable, low risk/tight money management method of making money as a day trader, and its effectiveness is effectively ruined by circa 50% when practiced on the usual lagging, hopeless retail platforms.

It's still slightly bearish unless it moves past 1400.
